🧠 The “Kiss Swan” sign is a symmetric medullary T2 hyperintensity seen in adult leukodystrophies, particularly Alexander disease (GFAP). It may guide genetic testing but is not pathognomonic. 👌
Check out this month’s #AJNR Fellows’ Journal Club choice: ‘’Cerebellar Malformations in Congenital Cytomegalovirus Infection’’
This study describes the neuroimaging spectrum of cerebellar anomalies and malformations in patients with cCMV infection and their associations with other typical cCMV findings in prenatal and postnatal brain MRI.

SPIN Tweetorial Wednesday | Fetal Spinal Dysraphism
A “low conus” sounds straightforward—until fetal development enters the equation.
The conus ascends during gestation, vertebral numbering is imperfect, and postnatal cutoffs cannot simply be applied to fetal imaging.

Ready to seize the day w/epilepsy imaging?
Everyone knows mesial temporal sclerosis (MTS)! But did you know there are different KINDS of MTS??
This month's @theAJNR SCANtastic shows YOU what you need to know in the latest in epilepsy imaging!
https://t.co/zW4WuKB1Ar
Here's what to remember:
Hippocampal sclerosis or MTS has 3 subtypes:
--Type 1
-Classic form w/neuronal loss in all subfields
-Normal hippocampus looks like a balloon; this looks like a deflated balloon
Remember: Number 1 looks like a flattened balloon
Remember this rhyme: In type 1, hippocampus is all done!
--Type 2
-CA1 predominant volume loss
-Normal hippocampus tapers like a cornucopia, but bc of CA1 volume loss in Type 2 MTS, it is smooth like a snake
Remember: Number 2 looks like the curve of a snake
Remember this rhyme: Type 2 loses the glue! (CA1 glues the hippocampus to the rest of the temporal lobe)
--Type 3
-CA4 & dentate predominant volume loss
-Normal hippocampus hilum is like a fully belly in the middle. This becomes a thin belly in Type 3
Remember: Number 3 looks like the curves of a beer belly
Remember this rhyme: Type 3 loses the belly! CA4 & dentate are the hippocampus belly!
Next time you have an epilepsy study, hopefully you'll seize the opportunity to use this!
But this only scratches the surface! Follow @theAJNR & read the full article:

Enoftalmos can be an unusual sign in patients with anorexia nervosa due to fat loss in the orbit, leading to sunken eyes.
