Dear @KeNHAKenya, kindly take a drive along the Redhill Bypass and see what is happening.
The pedestrian walkways and paths are slowly being taken over by tuk tuks, while small stalls and vibandas are mushrooming along the entire bypass. Why can’t we have an organised way of accommodating eateries and small businesses, as we see along major highways in many of the countries we constantly say we want to emulate?
Meanwhile, our national failures @ntsa_kenya can happily come and arrest pedestrians while ignoring the lawlessness happening right in front of them.
The damage being done to the infrastructure and kerbs is clearly visible, with tuk tuks and boda bodas illegally crossing the bypass and creating stages along the road.
Incompetence, corruption and lack of enforcement are slowly destroying what was once a beautiful and organised city. At this rate, I will not be surprised to see full markets, boda stages and tuk tuk termini mushrooming along the entire bypass. We watch disorder begin, allow it to become normal, then wonder how we got here.

Two suspended police constables were arraigned at the Makadara Law Courts on September 23, 2026, following a crackdown on a bank-trailing robbery and extortion syndicate operating along the Thika Superhighway.
Silas Onyango Okello, an interdicted constable suspended from the Kahawa Sukari Police Station, and his accomplice, Oliver Juma Boge, an interdicted constable suspended from the Railway Police Station, allegedly masqueraded as active-duty police officers alongside two civilians. The group used a grey Toyota Allion (registration KCN 371M) to profile bank customers, kidnap, extort, and rob citizens.
According to court records, the syndicate is directly linked to the theft of over Ksh 100,000 from a motorist at a petrol station in Kahawa Sukari. The victim, a 55-year-old man, withdrew Ksh 100,000 from a bank in the Kamakis area along the Eastern Bypass and drove to the Kahawa Sukari Shell Petrol Station, where he locked his car and went shopping.
CCTV footage captured the syndicate trailing his vehicle. They parked next to him and used a specialized tool to smash his rear window, escaping with the Ksh 100,000 cash left inside a khaki envelope.Detectives from the Ruiru Police Station used the CCTV footage and forensic evidence to tie the four arraigned suspects to the broader bank-trailing network operating across the highway.
During their final robbery in Kasarani, they were intercepted by detectives shortly after they falsely arrested a pedestrian, accused him of a minor offense, and extorted Ksh 15,000 via mobile money to secure his release.
Most Clients are now embracing Trusts over Wills. Here are some of the benefits of a Trust:
1. Trust assets are separate from matrimonial property, meaning that upon divorce, property properly held in a Trust will not form part of the matrimonial property available for division.
2. If you go broke and your business fails, Trust assets are protected from creditors. Clever people understand this.
3. Trusts are tax efficient. Beneficiaries receive distributions without being taxed again where the relevant tax has already been paid by the trustee.
4. Upon your death, beneficiaries benefit from Trust assets without having to go through the lengthy succession cases.
There are numerous other benefits of Trusts. That’s why I get excited whenever I’m registering one.Registering a Trust takes one or two weeks.
What Trevor Ombija said was beyond the pale … it’s truly sad that a young person would want to win votes by concocting falsehoods to whip up Luo hatred of Kikuyu! He even tribalized a media station that gave him a public platform. I have always said you don’t throw your first employer under the bus! In attempting to create Luo-Kikuyu animosity, Ombija sank to the Hades!
As a frequent business traveler in Africa, I'm often asked why I tend to choose Ethiopian Airlines or Airlink over Kenya Airways.
Since I actually had to be in Nairobi this week for Aviation Africa Summit & Exhibition, I decided to give KQ another shot and booked a Business Class ticket for my return to Malawi. My first KQ flight in 3 years.
I somewhat question my choice already.
Kenya Airways offers, in theory, a "SkyPriority" service for Business Class and SkyTeam Elite passengers. This includes a separate terminal entrance, priority check-in, special security and immigration lanes, lounge access and priority boarding.
Spoiler alert: this wasn't a priority experience.
The SkyPriority terminal entrance is shared with staff and crew, so you have to yield to them. It was probably quicker to use the main entrance.
The priority check-in and immigration queues appeared to have been taken over by wheelchair passengers and their accompanying families, at the expense of the people actually paying for Business Class. As for security, less said the better. The line extended almost all the way back to the escalator. If there once was a SkyPriority line, it was impossible to find amid the sea of humanity.
It's not just the airline's fault, though. JKIA is quite simply not fit for purpose at peak hours.
I first visited Kenya in 1987 and remarkably, parts of the airport still feel much the same. Nairobi's traffic has GROWN enormously while the rest of the world has EVOLVED around it.
There are some relatively easy fixes.
First, Kenya Airports Authority should seriously consider Level 3 slot controls at peak times. It always surprises me that so few African airports do this, with Accra and Johannesburg notable exceptions. Slot controls aren't just about runway capacity. Terminal capacity is every bit as important, and airlines should be required to schedule around the infrastructure that actually exists.
Second, the airline needs to proactively deliver the premium services it promises. It's not difficult to have staff policing the premium queues and ensuring eligible passengers actually receive priority. But that requires continuity of management vision, and motivated staff who care about delivering the product. Sadly, the Kenya Airways of 2026 seems to lack both.
To be fair, the Pride Lounge was decent, boarding was smooth, we pushed back on time, and the breakfast on board was actually tasty.
But the poor ground experience soured the overall morning.
I'm flying KQ again in a few weeks. Let's see whether the newly restructured management team is proactive enough to address some of these issues before then.
Watch this space!
Full disclaimer: This was not a staff ticket or any other industry concession. I am not, and have never been, employed or contracted by KQ or any airline mentioned in comparison. Today I'm just wearing my regular business traveler hat 🤠
Mr President you found public debt at Sh8.7 trillion. Today it is Sh13 trillion. That is Sh4.3 trillion added in four years. The Controller of Budget is telling Treasury to stop borrowing because we have smashed the 55 percent debt ceiling. You do not reduce a mountain by standing on it and announcing it is a hill. #DeniBandia #ReKe
