@GeometricRabbit@US_IMLS I found this statistical imagery very sad and disheartening. Many of the states that are darker in color and have the highest library usage are rural and also states facing the toughest legislation and most rigorous book bans in their perspective states.
Breaking from @maldonado_mia_: Lawyers on behalf of private Idaho schools, privately-funded public libraries, parents and their children have sued Idaho officials in federal court to stop the enforcement of House Bill 710, the library materials bill.

It's official
Utah has published a state-mandated NO-READ LIST: 13 books that must be banned in ALL public schools.
Though many states have passed laws to facilitate book bans, UT is the 1st to outlaw a list of books.
Here's what's on it, per @sltrib: https://t.co/1DqAFYhbcy
Are you a jumbled ball of emotions about HB710? Angry, scared, sad, hopeful, grateful, discouraged? Same, and that is OK. It is also hard! This week we'll share daily reminders about the power you DO still have, and ways to maybe not feel so discouraged.
It was heartwarming to see so many Idahoans rally in support of libraries across our great state today 📚 ❤️
Let's keep rolling!
What is the next action you are going to take to support Idaho libraries?

ALA President @edrabinski kicks off #ALAAC24 by acknowledging the Cahuilla, Cupeno, Luiseno, and Kumeyaay tribes, who have stewarded this land for thousands of years and continue to enrich our region with their enduring cultural heritage and traditions.
