Tulu is not only a language but also a culture & tradition with its own history.

Oldest available inscriptions in Tulu are from 14-15 century AD

Inscriptions also found at Ullur Subrahmanya Temple.

22 languages are in 8th schedule of Constitution. Govt should also include Tulu

ತುಳುನಾಡ ಮಕ್ಕಳು ನಮ್ಮ ನಾಡಿನ ಮಕ್ಕಳು. ಮಾತೃ ಭಾಷೆ ತುಳುವನ್ನು 8ನೇ ಪರಿಚ್ಛೇದಕ್ಕೆ ಸೇರಿಸಬೇಕು ಎಂಬ ಹೋರಾಟ ಮಾಡ್ತಾ ಇದ್ದಾರೆ.
ತುಳುನಾಡ್ ಕೂಡ ಜಾನಪದ ಕಲೆಗೆ ಬಹಳ ದೊಡ್ಡ ಕೊಡುಗೆ ನೀಡಿದೆ, ತುಳುನಾಡ ಸಂಸ್ಕೃತಿ, ಪರಂಪರೆ ಅತೀ ಪ್ರಾಚೀನವಾದದ್ದು.

ಬೆಂಗಳೂರಿಂದ ಊರಿಗೆ ಬರುವಾಗ ಬೆಳಿಗ್ಗೆ ಏಳುವಾಗ ನನ್ನ ಊರಿನಲ್ಲಿರುತ್ತೇನೆ ಎಂದು ಆಗುವ ಸಂತೋಷ ಅಷ್ಟಿಷ್ಟಲ್ಲ. ಊರಿಗೆ ಬಂದಾಗ "ಹೇಗಿದ್ದೀರಿ " ಬದಲು "ಎಂಚ ಉಲ್ಲಾಬೆ " ಎಂದು ಕೇಳುವಾಗ ಆಗುವ ಸಂತೋಷ ಅಷ್ಟಿಷ್ಟಲ್ಲ ಇಂತಹ ನನ್ನ ಭಾಷೆ ನನ್ನ ಊರಿನಲ್ಲೇ ಅಧಿಕೃತವಲ್ಲ ಎಂದಾಗ ಆಗುವ ದುಃಖವು ಅಷ್ಟಿಷ್ಟಲ್ಲ.

ಇಷ್ಟು ಗೌಜಿ ಗದ್ದಲಗಳ ನಡುವೆ ಅತೀವ ಸಂತೋಷದ ವಿಷಯ ಏನೆಂದರೆ " ತುಳುಕ್ ಲಿಪಿ ಉಂಡಾ? " ಎಂದು ಕೇಳುತ್ತಿದ್ದ ಬಹುತೇಕ ತುಳುವರು ಇಂದು ತಮ್ಮ ಮನೆ, ಊರುಗಳ ಬೋರ್ಡ್, ರಿಕ್ಷಾ, ಬಸ್ ನಿಲ್ದಾಣಗಳ ಹೆಸರನ್ನು ತುಳುವಿನಲ್ಲಿ ಬರೆಸುತ್ತಿದ್ದಾರೆ. ಇದು ಇನ್ನೂ ಮುಂದುವರೆದು ಎಲ್ಲರೂ ತುಳು ಲಿಪಿ ಕಲಿಯುವಂತಾಗಲಿ.
