A cleric tied by marriage to Iran's ruling family has declared the Islamic Republic obsolete and is openly recruiting to replace it, not with democracy, but with something harder.

In a video from a religious gathering, Mohammad-Bagher Kharrazi, head of Hezbollah of Iran and brother-in-law of one of the late leader's sons, told followers a shadow government already exists, with "60 thick volumes" of plans for converting the Islamic Republic into an "Islamic government." His method: each follower recruits 17, until 250,000 stand ready to surround the ministries.

He called President Pezeshkian "this buffoon," claimed 40 years of friendship with Mojtaba Khamenei, and said the new leader's thinking is "far more radical than his father's."

Days earlier, the leader's office branded his previous claims entirely false.

Five months into the new reign, the loudest plan to end the Islamic Republic comes from inside its family circle. And it points toward more theocracy, not less.

The United States revoked the permanent resident status of three Iranian nationals with ties to the Islamic Republic and placed them in immigration custody, the State Department said on Saturday.
In a statement, the department said Secretary of State Marco Rubio had terminated the green card status of Seyed Eissa Hashemi, Maryam Tahmasebi and their son, who are now in the custody of Immigration and Customs Enforcement pending removal.
“Eissa Hashemi is the son of Masoumeh Ebtekar, also known as “Screaming Mary,” the infamous spokeswoman for the Islamist militants who stormed the US Embassy in Tehran in 1979 and held 52 Americans hostage for 444 days,” read the statement.

Iran’s supreme leader instructed all military units to stop firing, according to a statement read on state-run IRIB about two hours after President Donald Trump announced a ceasefire deal, CNN reported on Tuesday.

It’s been a rough few weeks for the Iranian regime: they lost over 50 high-ranking officials, key military sites were destroyed, and most of the population stayed passive.
