one of the biggest signs your self concept is evolving is that you stop taking everything personally. someone else’s mood doesn’t automatically become your responsibility, a delayed response doesn’t instantly become proof you’re unwanted. you stop treating life like it’s happening against you. your mind isn’t constantly trying to make every event mean something about your worth.
I don’t want to "download the app" to pay for parking. I don’t want to "create an account" to see a menu. I don’t want to "provide feedback" on a 30-second interaction. I just want to exist in the physical world without a digital leash.
I cannot emphasize this enough: as an adult, you need to reapproach islam, and this time from a lens that is not influenced or tied to your upbringing, or religious community, or family. approach the religion as a scholar would. ask the questions.
