Today my colleague @TeacherAlexG and I ran a symposium for local History and English teachers focused on collaboration between our subjects. Thank you @MaryMyatt for inspiring us and framing the day so perfectly with your keynote. We are excited to see how this develops…
@LCothliff @Team_English1@SaysMiss@AVisserFuray@FunkyPedagogy@SPryke2 This is great! I was thinking of doing something similar in History to extend use of vocabulary. @TeacherAlexG thought you might find these interesting and useful for English.
@sehartsmith Great idea! Can see so many uses of this approach across all key stages as starters, retrieval practice, consolidation HWs. Thanks for sharing!
A must read guide to must-read books! #ThisIsTheCanon is by Joan Anim-Addo & Deirdre Osbourne of @BlackWriteGold & @kadijattug. 50 titles so you could challenge yourself to read one a week for a year! Or maybe adopt a more leisurely pace over two? Could be great for a book club!
@jillberry102 Thanks for retweeting this. @TeacherAlexG and I feel passionately about this. We know there are plenty of departments throughout the country making moves to diversify, so this is just our take on how we went about it. Hope you found it helpful/useful/interesting

Marina Ovsyannikova, a TV Editor on Russia’s state Channel One, burst on to set during a live broadcast last night. But what happens to women in Russia who take a stand? We talk to Professor @TomilaLankina: https://t.co/gbQvYYqM75
For obvious reasons, the situation in Ukraine hit peak interest in school. Students keen for answers/reassurance. Tip of the iceberg but the ‘conflict at a glance’ looks to the geography, history/politics of the dispute. Hopefully it provides accessible insight. #historyteacher
Today is Holocaust Memorial Day. We remember the six million Jewish men, women and children murdered by the Nazis and their collaborators, all victims of Nazi persecution and the victims of subsequent genocides. #HMD2022#HolocaustMemorialDay

@MirandaKaufmann Thank you for getting behind this. We need to lobby for more time. We can’t be expected to teach the history of the world from the beginning of time until modern day with such little allocation.
#OnThisDay the great Mahatma Gandhi was assassinated in 1938. Today his messages of non violence and progress are so pertinent as we see the events in India and around the world. “Be the change you wish to see in the world” - Gandhi
"Treat everyone respectfully and lovingly" - never a truer word spoken, coming from someone who faced such adversity. Thank you, Eve Kugler. We will share you story. @HolocaustUK#EveLive#witnesstohistory
