Told @nytimes that #Iran’s grip on the strait of Hormuz may be loosening, but its overall strategy — to keep oil prices high enough that the world, and particularly the U.S., feels it — is still working.

India's AI adoption story looks like a paradox: second in the world for total https://t.co/jMzKnuauid usage, yet 101st out of 116 countries once you adjust for population. Realising AI’s economic promise depends on getting it to work in everyday businesses and public services.
In this Discussion Document, Bharath Reddy (@bharath_red) and Rijesh Panicker (@rijesh) lay out four conditions: reliability at the task, access to those who need it, the skills and systems to use it, and clear permissions and accountability. Policy that addresses these conditions can strengthen public services and keep Indian businesses competitive as AI reshapes global markets.

If the Democrats win the House and Senate in the midterm elections, how will President Trump react? I put that question to comedian @billmaher in part 2 of our conversation:
Iran’s police chief, Brigadier General Ahmad-Reza Radan, says Iranians will soon be able to scan QR codes on police cars to submit feedback, including criticism and suggestions about police performance.

Uniform does not give anyone the right to violate a woman’s dignity.
A male police officer touching a woman during a protest raises serious questions about police conduct and accountability

Some Iranians observed Mehregan, an ancient festival associated with Mehr, friendship, and the autumn harvest, on Friday, keeping alive a tradition that has survived in different forms across Iran over centuries.

My piece about Iran’s (possible) withdrawal from the Non-Proliferation Treaty on nuclear weapons (NPT) as public and domestic pressure is piling up on the political system to make the final decision.
#WATCH | Delhi: Indian Air Force chief Air Chief Marshal AP Singh says, "About theater commands, I think I've made it clear every time that the Indian Air Force is not against theater commands. The Indian Air Force has been working towards it, and we have been a part of the discussion throughout. We have a new situation which we saw after Operation Sindoor. We were discussing before that; post-Op Sindoor discussions had to be taken in a slightly different direction because we now gained some first-hand experience in that. So my only point is that we should look at all those and then take a decision. You have already had a change in the Chiefs of Staff Committee, except for me. Now all three other people are new, and I'm sure that within a month a new person will enter there. So the new lot will have to have fresh minds looking at it. Maybe they will come out with a slightly better one—not only just what kind of organization we have to make, but also in what sequence it should be made, whether it should be in one go or whether it should be incremental. Those decisions the government will take when we present it to them..."
Here’s a model to help think through why the US and Iran are struggling to reach a deal to end the war.
Since the outset of the fighting, both sides have mainly tried to use economic pressure to push the other towards what they consider a “fair” settlement of the conflict.
But the economic pressure accumulates differently for each country. Iran must experience much higher levels of pressure to consider a diplomatic settlement with the Trump administration. But unlike for the US, there is also a point on Iran’s pressure “frontier” when a deal becomes less likely.
In short, Iran is too far along its curve. The experience of “maximum pressure” sanctions, the blockade, and the war have undermined confidence that a deal is possible.
This is why Iran is seeking an interim arrangement. They want US to walk back the pressure, allowing the two sides to return to the “deal window.”
The problem is that the Trump administration doesn’t seem to understand this model—they neither accept the diminishing returns of more economic pressure nor its counterproductive impact on the prospects for a deal.
⚡️BREAKING: The Iranian Armed Forces have Announced the Creation of new FPV Drone Brigades
These Brigades have been Trained and Specialize in launching Swarms of FPV Drones
The most difficult operation of war is organising an orderly "retreat". I guess the Governor feels that the players on the Indian bourses have mastered this art & are now in full "defence" to start their "advance to contact" before launching an "attack"...there I mentioned 4 ops.
It is hard to imagine a population more uncaring/uneducated than ours on crucial subjects that affect their daily lives be it demonetisation, the rollout of E20, curbing of physical gatherings, the faults & hidden pitfalls of a targeted & centrally controlled SIR, to name a few.
CEC, Mr Gyanesh Kumar, is desperately trying to cover his tracks and reverse the illegal decisions that he took unilaterally in the name of the Election Commission
What about the 13,30,00,000 voters who were removed from the electoral rolls under S.I.R. without due process?
What about the crores/lakhs of persons among the 13,30,00,000 who were unable to vote in the recent Assembly elections in Bihar, West Bengal, etc.?
What about the affected voters whose Appeals were allowed by the judges in West Bengal (93% of the cases disposed of) and who were unable to vote in the West Bengal Assembly elections?
Maharashtra chief electoral officer (CEO) has lodged a protest. Odisha CEO has applied for premature retirement. Karnataka CEO has ordered an enquiry into the bulk Form 7 applications mainly against a Muslim voters. Bombay High Court has posed difficult questions to the ECI and the Maharashtra CEO
Other CEOs should speak now and expose the illegal directions and decisions
Several judges appointed to hear Appeals in West Bengal have expressed frustration. One judge has quit
The entire illegal S.I.R. is unravelling
Where is the original file in which the decision to conduct an S.I.R. was taken?
The two other Election Commissioners must release their objections and letters. The minutes of the ECI -- if they exist --must be made public.
Whatever Mr Gyanesh Kumar does now to reverse or erase his illegal steps, the DEMAND for his resignation will grow louder every day
All those justifying the unlawful actions of #ECI in the conduct of SIR as necessary to weed out illegitimate voters, it is you guys who’ve empowered ruling politicians to wilfully take away your rights as citizens because you’ve cheered every illegal & dubious act over 10 years.
