My essay for the New York Review of Books @nybooks on ethnic cleansing in Shushi, a town that was once referred to as the 'Paris of the south Caucasus': https://t.co/NzuoufDbB2
So in sum, today Azerbaijani forces unilaterally violated the ceasefire, in multiple areas, and launched a ground assault aimed at capturing territory (at which they partially succeeded).
You be the judge if this is a government looking for 'peaceful coexistence.'
The 🤩 moment when the chief of Unesco — the organization responsible for heritage — gave the Mozart Medal to the wife of the dictator that destroyed 28,000 medieval monuments, who gave her husband $468,000 for her silence.
This is what all of us can’t stop thinking about right now. This and many many many other such atrocities. “NK peace” sure sounds nice. But doesn’t come so easy.
I watched a video of an Azeri soldier beheading an Armenian man. Like this actions of the Azerbaijani soliders are no different from a terrorist organization. The worst thing is that these criminals will return to back from the army and participate in society.
I can name at least 30 Az “human rights activists” aka “tweetdom celebrities” waxing poetic about “NK peace” while quoting good ol Thomas and E Dill and Schaffer and all that other bullshit.... who could REALLY benefit from reading this thread. But of course they won’t.

“We hope that the international public will react to [France’s resolution],”says Erdogan, while the international public largely ignores Turkish-backed Azerbaijani forces proudly sharing videos of themselves torturing and murdering Armenian prisoners of war.
Oh come on. The good ol’ anti-Russia US paranoia re-re-rearing its head. Let’s not get too excited. As soon as the Russia angle disappears Turkey is back to coveted US NATO ally status. So no, I don’t see any mounting challenges.
Turkey will face mounting challenges that will only worsen under the Biden Administration

Let's get some things straight. The Pashinyan government has polarized the country but HHK & Dashnakcutyun have only themselves to blame for being majorly hated. They discredited themselves. You don't gut the country, stay unpunished & come back as "saviors". We remember all.
"Qafqaz Albaniyası" mövzusu ətrafında yaradılmış siyasi propaqanda artıq ət tökür. Bütöv bir ölkə alternativ reallıqda yaşayır. Heç bir araşdırmaçısı peer-reviewed jurnallarda bunu müdafiə edə bilmir, heç bir alimi mötəbər jurnallarda yaza bilmir. Özləri deyib özləri eşidirlər.
Purported anti-nationalist discarding “nationalist” statements without explaining what exactly about them is untrue. Methinks the anti-nationalist got bitten by the nationalist bug. Oh boy.
@Nrmn_90@JahangirYoussif You don’t have to be brothers. Just be friendly but also make sure Azerbaijan Army is always strong. As long as your army is strong, Armenia wont think about war. Armenians only attack when their host country has internal issues. Think about Ottoman Empire or Azerbaijan in 90s...
