Shmurr

Professor & Sales Director. Center- left. Conquering full body CRPS🔥. You’ll always have problems - learn to enjoy life while solving them.

[Shmurr @Shmurdle]

@agraybee 2/2 expecting the same leniency: partial credit for missed assignments, accommodations for ordinary nerves, and praise for doing the minimum. This is a symptom not of stupidity but of a system that’s forgotten what learning costs. Shame on every teacher that goes along with it.

[Shmurr @Shmurdle]

@agraybee 1/2 It’s not just the phones. Years of lowered standards in K–12 and at home have produced students unaccustomed to rigor: long-form reading/lectures are gone, accountability is negotiable, and discomfort is pathologized instead of managed. Students show up fluent in shortcuts

[Shmurr @Shmurdle]

@ACSHorg Thank you, I appreciate it. I’m sorry to hear your dad has CRPS - it’s certainly indescribable and horrible to deal with. But we have to keep up the fight and hope for remission. I refuse to give up the fight. Sending good vibes to your dad ❤️

@theliamnissan Did they actually expect a pope that’s not sympathetic to refugees and the poor??

[Shmurr @Shmurdle]

@MadDoginSF @Acyn That means “doll” in Mattelian. You can only have two of those.

[Shmurr @Shmurdle]

@Acyn Yeah, Mattel’s national anthem is just the sound of a cash register and children crying in toy aisles

How come he’s not talking about Hot Wheels applying for UN membership?

[Shmurr @Shmurdle]

No, no one is getting punished for assessment methods, we’re not toddlers. I’m adjunct, too, and I’ve never been blamed for F’s.

You didn’t quantify “too many but if the majority of the class is failing - or getting A’s for that matter - that’s generally a matter of problematic teaching or evaluation methods.

@DrRosedaniels @pourfairelevide I’m not tenured, but I’m also not a wuss.

ALL professors have academic freedom. Some non-tenured professors just feel like they need to abandon their pedagogy in favor of the Dean’s. Professors with a backbone are doing what’s actually best for the students.

[Armand Domalewski @ArmandDoma]

turning your classroom into a vehicle for your political views is exactly the sort of stupid thing that has eroded trust in academia over time
