I do not understand this Green Lantern obsession with renouncing fear. There is no bravery without fear, there is maybe ignorance/indifference. From what I can tell, this wasn't a thing till the first Hal Jordan comic came into being.

It is also incredibly fitting that this story is being told by @zoeinthecities, whose grandfather Elia Kazan directed the celebrated 1955 adaptation. It almost feels like the tale of the Trasks across several generations has itself been passed down as an heirloom from Elia to Zoe

Min Jin Lee's new book is out, and I'm dying to read it. Pachinko was at times difficult to read, but it is an extraordinary book, and felt deeply personal in many ways even though it had nothing to do with me personally. I guess that is the sign of a good storyteller.
