Great question. My rough framing is that AI has given engineering a 100x boost, product 10x, and design 5x. That imbalance creates real strain: engineers can merge lots of individual changes while the overall UX gets less coherent, and designers burn out trying to keep up.
Design is a deep craft. It takes thought and a view of the whole experience. We haven’t given designers tooling that matches how quickly we can now produce code.
That’s why we’re building Inspect for designers. The ambition is to give them the 200x boost. Then engineers can be the ones trying to keep up :)
turned 25 today.
5 years ago i was a cs student who had just found out what design is. i didn’t know how adult life works. i just knew i wanted to build my life around this thing.
now it’s my job, and i still like it.
the industry changed a lot in the last couple of years and it keeps changing. i used to think being good meant knowing the tools. now i think it’s knowing what you want and having the taste to push it further. so i’m still learning, probably always will be.
if i’m honest, time scares me a bit. the last few years went by fast, and sometimes i wonder if i’ll get to do everything i want. travel, take care of my family, buy a house, stop worrying about money.
but today i’m mostly grateful. my parents and siblings are healthy. i have good friends, good people at work, and i live in peace. that’s a lot.
25, let’s see what you’ve got.
