I recall the disappointment I felt when I came so close to securing a job years ago, only to be met with the bitter realization of rejection. It's a frustrating phase of life, pouring your efforts into countless job applications, hoping for even a glimmer of opportunity.

The emails you receive often echo similar sentiments:

"Hi Warren Chris, Thank you for your interest in the Communications Officer position. We acknowledge receipt of your application and eagerly anticipate reviewing it."
"We appreciate your time and effort in applying for the Marketing & Communications Officer role. Our team will reach out after reviewing your application."

"Thank you for submitting your resume for consideration. We are currently reviewing applications and will contact you if your qualifications align with our needs."

After receiving these emails, the process unfolds—aptitude tests, assignments, and multiple rounds of interviews. You invest your time, energy, and even your own money to travel to various locations for these interviews, with the hope of recovering those expenses once you secure that dream job.

Yet, it is undeniably frustrating. The final blow comes when you believe you have made it to the last round, or when you are screened out without even a chance to interview. The anticipation builds, only to be shattered by rejection and heart-breaking emails:

"Dear Warren, Thank you for your application for the Communications Officer position. Although your qualifications are impressive, we have chosen a candidate whose qualifications better align with our needs at this time due to the highly competitive selection process."

"Dear Warren Chris, We regret to inform you that you have not been selected for an interview for the Public Relations position at bla bla bla. We appreciate your interest and encourage you to consider future opportunities."
It's immensely frustrating, but such is the reality of the job market. You must persistently try your luck, navigating the highs and lows. Through this process, you learn and unlearn, growing from the series of interviews you undertake.

I have also come to understand that what is truly meant for you will inevitably find its way to you. Opportunities tend to gravitate towards those who are ready, possessing relevant experiences and the favor of God.
To those who are still searching for an opportunity, I urge you not to give up. Submit those applications, step out of your comfort zone, and persevere. Send out not just one or ten, but hundreds of applications. It costs you nothing, as my father always says.

You never know when the breakthrough will come. Stay hopeful, have faith, and cast your applications far and wide. The day will come when you secure your dream job or find a means of survival as you forge ahead in advancing your career or building your own business.

Life is not easy; it requires your continuous effort and input. You must keep trying.

Do not lose faith in yourself. That job I yearned for and didn't receive paved the way for an even greater opportunity years later. Along the journey of unemployment, I did not refuse to work in places that valued my skills.

Believe me when I say it is possible. It can happen, and you can wear a smile at the end of the day, knowing you tried, applied, got selected, and landed that job. It demands patience as you search for existing opportunities.

I extend my best wishes to all those applying for different roles. Keep going and keep God in the equation.
