Freedom is actually an evolving thing when we look at it in the worlds terms and culture. The financial freedom you feel today won’t feel the same next year when inflation or global financial collapse hits.

Truth in the world is based on a persons experiences, limited human knowledge as we are limited, one’s view point in that time and frame of mind etc. Yet how can one have absolute truth if they can’t see or know tomorrow? We can confidently say we have specific truth - I am wearing a black T-shirt. We must speak frontal truth - today I hate cereal not I hate cereal (declaring permanency) because tomorrow you may feel different.

Coming to Christianity - freedom is based on ‘choice’ we have been granted CHOICE by God through faith in Christ who died and rose from the dead for us. We are saved or free not to conform to the world ways or wrong things or sin. The world says we are free it’s freedom day but are we really - i. the ‘marginal groups’ (middle to lower class) are still oppressed by the system in SA (legally [a wealthy person can get away with a crime at times and scale of judgement used is different from the one used on a parson who doesn’t impact the society as much], bank [you must have money to be trusted with a loan to go make money and even your skin colour affects such], employment, other benefits etc). ii. we have no discipline or self control as beings : she was cute I was drunk so we had sex in a public toilet while people recorded us and we trended for a week (but you have soul scarring and ties, sexually transmitted diseases etc etc and these things are with you for years because of a 10 min pleasure which wasn’t a need), I can go on and on.

They worlds version of freedom is a lie it’s based on a limited scale or spectrum by beings that are limited in ability (create a new species of animal using your voice or write a new physics theory on air and space in the next 24 hours), knowledge (what is going to happen in detail to you at this exact time in 7 days for the next 10 min - then dont try controlling events just live and fulfill your spoken word), here’s a simple one many can’t answer WHO ARE YOU this is not about name (next we justify midlife crisis, mental breakdown, he or she just snapped etc because humanBEINGS are trying to figure things out, trying to grasp the life aspect, trying to become).

Christianity Freedom is absolute as it’s divine and above human understanding - it’s contentment trusting in a God who loves and cares for you doesn’t need from you and is capable. Christian freedom is having peace, joy, ability to chose truly and face the results etc etc saved from being controlled and having no control, saved from death so we have eternity, saved from sin so we can choose a different path (because they stole from me I don’t need to steal too, because I’m horny I don’t need to go have random sex firstly I must control my environment as it leads me to being horny, because I need to win this deal I don’t need to lie, because I’m angry I don’t need to go shot innocent people in a mall or blow up a train, because my friends are married doesn’t mean I must marry quickly anyone I find so I fit in and adult. Because….. because….. doesn’t mean I can’t walk my own path guided by one who knows all things and has absolute truth. Freedom is to align with doing right. A past President from the US cut up the Bible removing some things and discovered it was an excellent manual to being a good human. This is the freedom of a Christian. Note Christianity and religion are two different things.
