With 97% debt to revenue on May 29, 2023 and more than $6b in debt to foreign airlines, with less than $20b net in foreign reserves, with more than 20 states not able to pay monthly salaries to their civil service staff, with more than #4T debt to electricity company, with more than $1b in maturing foreign bonds and of cause I don’t want to talk about infrastructure deficit and the multiple foreign exchange inequalities and arbitration that was the norm at the time.

Again, sir, just with my little or no experience as an economist, sir, will or can you care to explain to us in lieu of the existing situation of 2023 to date how you think the government can reduce cost of living (inflation- cost push, and imported inflation)?

P.S: you cited the decision of the UK prime minister policies in the last one month, especially on electricity. Care to explain to us the extent of the fiscal policies of the current government in Nigeria and how you think it will reduce cost of living as espoused by you sir.?

This is like comparing apples and oranges.

A more meaningful comparison would be:
Dangote Refinery vs. another large refinery or petrochemical complex.
Eko Atlantic vs. Canary Wharf, Marina Bay, or Dubai International Financial Centre, large-scale urban developments built to drive commerce and finance.

When Mustafa Chike-Obi says Eko Atlantic could eventually contribute more to GDP or create more jobs, he's referring to its long-term urban economic impact.
That doesn't necessarily make it "better" or "more important" than Dangote Refinery. Likewise, the refinery's strategic importance doesn't automatically mean it will create more jobs or generate a larger urban economy.

The two projects are better viewed as complementary pillars of economic development: Dangote Refinery strengthens Nigeria's industrial and energy base, while Eko Atlantic has the potential to become a major commercial and financial hub.

Vozinha was one of the standout performers in this summer’s World Cup, and now the Cape Verde goalkeeper has been recognised by having a newly-discovered species named in his honour.

A new species of marine mollusk has been named after the 40-year-old by Spanish researcher Jesus Ortea.

Ortea made the discovery of the new species — a small sea slug of red appearance and about four millimeters that was, until his published work, unknown by science — and has named it Aldisa vozinhai (in English, Vozinha’s sea slug).

Was Ronaldo expecting his Portugal teammates to comfort him the way Javier Mascherano comforted Messi after the 2016 Copa América final?

Mascherano told him, “Keep your head up. You’re the best player in the world. Don’t blame yourself.” The Argentina squad used to say they played to prove Messi was the best.

That was never going to happen with Ronaldo.

How do you expect your teammates to love you when you insist on taking almost every free kick—even from impossible distances—despite a short pass often being the better option? On the rare occasion he let Nuno Mendes take one, he immediately pointed to his own head, as if to say it was his decision. If that chance on the wing had ended in a goal, he probably would’ve celebrated it like it was all about him.

This is the same Ronaldo who, when Bruno Fernandes scored against Uruguay at the World Cup, appeared on camera insisting he had touched the ball and even appealed for the goal to be credited to him.

The same Ronaldo who looked visibly unhappy when Bernardo Silva won the UEFA Nations League Player of the Tournament award while everyone else congratulated him.

The result?

No one seemed willing to carry him through his farewell to international football.

A fan poll by A Bola had around 70% voting for Ronaldo to start on the bench. Some teammates reportedly described him as just another player among the squad. And when Portugal were eliminated, there was no iconic scene of the team rallying around him.

A billionaire businessman, oil magnate, and philanthropist from Delta State, Chief Dr. Daniel Omoyibo (Danmotech), went out casually to have his hair barbered at a saloon with two barbers.

When he explained the haircut to the first barber, he was charged 5k and he priced it at 2k which he believed to be the appropriate price. The first barber insisted on the price he gave and the man was about to leave when the other barber called him back saying 'It was still morning'. He agreed to the price.

While the man had his haircut, they interacted, and he got to know that he is from Kogi and working for the shop owner. When asked how much will set up his own barbing saloon, he mentioned 2-3million naira.

Danmotech sent him 5million naira immediately and asked him to set himself up. He also exchanged numbers with him for further assistance. The man was really emotional and couldn't believe it.

Everyone I’ve spoken with who is currently serving in government has told me that this Prince Adeniyi case is simply a scam, but when I start asking questions, none of them has been able to answer.

Yes, you can forge an appointment letter and claim that you are a DG but appointment letters are signed by the SGF not the COS. Who allegedly issued his appointment letter or what signature is his allegedly forged appointment letter showing?

Someone higher than a DG must ask that you be allocated office space in the Federal Secretariat. Who made that request?

Someone higher than a DG must write asking that you be given an alleged take-off grant. You cannot yourself write to the Budget Office and the Office of the Accountant General that you should be given a take-off grant. Who allegedly wrote?

How did the agency get into the budget?

Usually, you will go for budget defence as part of a cohort. In this case, it will probably be as part of the State House cohort. Who defended or coordinated the defence of the budget estimates before the National Assembly before they were appropriated?

Did the guy earn a salary in the more than one year he was there? If so, who documented him and asked that he be paid?

With which money was the guy running the office for more than one year if nothing was allegedly released?

Who allegedly wrote to the CBN asking them to open an account for the ‘Council’? The ‘Council’ cannot just walk into CBN and ask to open an account, as if it’s a commercial bank looking for customers.

Who allegedly approved the ‘Council’s’ manning levels and who allegedly approved the waiver to recruit 300 staff?

Was the guy allegedly really that good? Or were there egregious failings at multiple points in the system?

These questions and more are often met with deafening silence. Everyone sighs heavily and uses the ubiquitous expression “Na waa.” Me sef, I sigh heavily and answer “Na real waa!”

This is a case of the proverbial tse tse that has landed on the scrotum. Leave it and it will cause sickness and pain. Swat it and it will cause pain because of its location.

Anyhow you look at it, there are questions begging for answers. And whatever the answers will be, they will not be good.

Still, I hope that there’ll be some answers soon…for the sake of our public administration system.
