Consistency is not merely a matter of mindset.
It is not something you can achieve by sheer determination alone.
It is a trader’s "skill."
As long as your beliefs remain unchanged, and you place value on the immediate wins and losses in front of you, emotions will surge in response to those results.
You will fiercely resist consistency.
You will not be able to maintain consistency.
Your emotions are incredibly powerful.
Your mind will creatively come up with countless excuses to justify your feelings, leading you to "tweak" the system in the name of "improvement," engage in revenge trading out of anger, or even end up claiming that trading itself is a scam and you are a victim.
Overcoming such emotions is extremely difficult.
It is not about defeating emotions.
What matters is transforming your beliefs themselves through deep understanding.
When your belief in placing value on immediate wins and losses changes to something else, the emotions you experience will also change.
And what changes those beliefs is a profound understanding of trading.
Deep understanding is not knowledge.
It is understanding gained through experience.
Nothing is more convincing to you than experience.
Knowing "dogs are not scary" as a fact will not eliminate your fear of dogs.
You need to have numerous experiences proving that dogs are not scary.
As a trader, you must repeatedly "experience" probabilistic thinking.
A system with an edge is one where profits remain after repeated wins and losses.
Losses also possess edge, and accepting losses means accepting the system.
Accepting the system means accepting the process of repeating wins and losses.
What matters is how extensively you have practiced and understood this as experience.
This is why I always say, "Consistency is a skill."
Skills require practice.
Those who have practiced probabilistic thinking thoroughly and embodied it in their actions are true traders.
Consistency = Trader
