This year Telugu cinema
Sing Geetham- A musical where characters talk through songs.
Rao Bahadur- A dark comedy about an ageing aristocrat.
Maa Inti Bangaram- A family action drama with a female lead as main character.
Chennai Love Story- A love story with a supernatural touch.
Newton's 3rd Law- Pyschological thriller.
Irumudi- Movie with a religious backdrop and father-daughter bonding.
Viswanath and Sons- Technically a Tamil movie but Telugu director, mostly Telugu cast. Rom Com.
There is more to Telugu cinema than just over the top masala flicks. Not that I have a problem with them, but stop defining Telugu Movies only with one lens.
I got to watch Jananayagan.
I do want to share about the one thing that was most important to me and the cause that I stand for - safety for children from sexual abuse and swift action (I still wish coz what else do we have except hope?)
A star the stature of @actorvijay and now the Honble CM of Tamilnadu speaking about child sexual abuse in the film was crucial; Important.
Huge thanks to the director H Vinoth and to the Honble CM for that scene.
🙏
I hope and pray all children be safe from abuse. May the abusers end.
@Ashwinsampathk@Ashwinsampathk this book was written by Paolino da San Bartolomeo a Catholic priest who spent 13 years 1776-1789 in Malabar as a missionary. Look how he describes Onam - a festival of visit of Vishnu where people welcome him & worship him with pookkalam. 😂🤣
@artbyahbuna Pulses are heavy in carbs, not protein. Indian vegetarian food is very low in protein. Even inclusion of yogurt twice a day is insufficient. Add soya chunks, tofu, paneer and seitan. Chug on protein shakes too and lift.
@jithinrajKTK@BharataPutran A promise was made to Prahlada that his descendants will not be killed. Mahabali was sent to Patala, which is very beautiful and was given the boon that he would be the next person to occupy the position of Indra in Svarga.
Not all Asuras are evil.
@Koo_Berry_@dhaval_raj41947@HinduHate You don't have the concept of Onam celebrations at all sans the story of Vamana and Mahabali. Cmon, use your brain.
Everything is ok except menstruation bit. Blood outside the body is impurity as per shastras. The woman is not impure but the blood is. She may visit some "tantrik" temples where such rules are not followed.
Varalakshmi Pooja / Vratham post.
I usually end up getting DMs from women about how a pooja ended up being either an emotional harassment or an instance of menstrual segregation.
If your Pooja for a FEMALE Goddess like Mahalakshmi is made impure because of menstruation or make it about not including a woman because her husband is dead - The HUSBAND IS NOT THE ONE WHO GIVES TURMERIC AND KUNKUM to a girl - she is born with and it is not something that a man who comes in between takes away.
Women need to not be such valiant gatekeepers of patriarchy and do better.
Menstruation is not impure
Neither is a widow - amangalam.
In contrast - all those women living with abusive partners in horrible marriages are not really the epitome of being a sumangali.
End.
@malayali_menace In a diff post of yours, you mentioned that Malayali Hindus don't eat beef. I can confirm that. Malayali Hindus in my country who migrated before India's independence also do not eat beef. Beef is taboo for all Malayali Hindus here regardless of caste.
@shreeyahari@Windsofchange72@zmb_bllbry_mffn So please understand that you are not in safe or even well intentioned hands. The doctors don't believe it's profitable to find a cure to your problems and they are the ones who engage in quackery.
@RacingToCafe You do realize that in EBM, the motivation to cure lies on evidence. The idea is always to find a cure, a treatment that works. The kind of medicine that refuses evolution is ayurveda and it's likes. I don't think you know what happens in biomedical sciences research.
@11081982_k@HinduHate Some festivals become more popular in certain regions and states. Onam is one like that too lik how in Bengal, Kali Puja is famous, in TN, Kaarthigai deepam, etc.. doesn't make them non-Hindu.
@11081982_k@HinduHate Because only devotees of Vishnu celebrate it. Bali is only relevant in the context of Onam only when related to Vamana (born in Sravana month on Sravana star. Mahabali has nothing to do with Onam otherwise. He also happens to be a devotee of Vishnu. Are we acknowledging that?
