- according to the legal council of the reporter, though they didn't disclose this during the invesitagation phase, but they said the article was written after fact checking with cha gawon

- they requested for 3 people to be witnesses to this case including haknyeon and cha gawon, the witness examination will be held on November 12th for haknyeon and the rest on a later date.

The reporter who reported allegations that former THE BOYZ member Ju Haknyeon engaged in prostitution in Japan has denied the defamation charges at his first trial.

The reporter admitted publishing the article but denied knowing the claims were false or having an intent to defame Ju Haknyeon. His lawyer also claimed that he had fact-checked the report with then-agency CEO Cha Gawon, before publication.

Prosecutors allege the report falsely claimed that Ju Haknyeon admitted to prostitution. Ju Haknyeon has denied the prostitution allegations, while acknowledging that he attended a drinking gathering in Tokyo.

The next hearing is scheduled for November 12.
