feeling bittersweet as I write this… today is my last day at @StellarOrg after 6.5 amazing years.

when I joined in 2020, I was new to blockchain and this was my first corporate job -- there was so much to learn with all the intelligent people around me. I was encouraged to experiment, build things from scratch, get things wrong and try again. I discovered how I could make things truly impactful in my own way -- @jricetweets, I’m forever grateful you've continued to believe in me and provide such unwavering support over the years as my manager ✨

soon after I joined, I took over the Stellar Community Fund and over the years, evolved from a small grant program into a ~$15M/year ecosystem incubator supporting over 500 teams with funding, development and security support, and mentorship. I’m so proud of how you -- @gwd2000 @elizabethliiii @StellarEmir @idealexit -- have grown over the years. I’m so proud of the things we’ve built, how we were able to push forward when things didn’t go the way we planned. such creative, motivated, intelligent, talented people you don’t come across often, and it’s been such an honor to work with you.

@Stellarorg and the ecosystem have grown immensely alongside those years -- being a leader in RWA, global payments and aid disbursements, having future-proof smart contracts, and more recently also incredible interoperability with other systems. This chain is not about hype but building sustained, real world impact that people can rely on -- something I’ve aligned with from the very beginning. @DenelleDixon is one of the most inspiring people I’ve ever worked with: incredibly resilient, leads with integrity, and drives a powerful vision 🤩

now it’s time for me to explore what’s next. I have so many questions on agent native systems, autonomous organizations, and the governance, evaluation and safeguards required so this technology can not only be impactful, but also secure and reliable. I’m going to spend the coming time on research, experimentation, and connecting with people with similar interests to build this emerging ecosystem together. I've joined @metagov as a research affiliate to do exactly this. And if you have cool projects you’re working on, or opportunities in the space --definitely reach out!

and I won’t be entirely gone from @StellarOrg just yet -- I’m consulting on a few essential projects to ensure a smooth transition for the next few months. this team and ecosystem means a lot to me, and I want to see it to success. thank you all for being part of it! 💖

兵法云“未虑胜，先虑败，故可百战而不殆”——防守的最高境界是“假设防线必将被破”。如果明天你的多签和时间锁全盘失守，你的协议还能活下来吗？

每一个 DeFi 建设者都该问自己 4 个问题：
🔸 黑客拿到 Admin 权限后，到底能通过哪些路径卷走资金？
🔸 资金流转是否被物理隔绝在了“预设白名单”合约之间？
🔸 如果发生非预设地址的转账，链上是否有严格的熔断或限额机制？
🔸 任何 Mint 行为，是否有实时的链上抵押物健康度校验？

尽量让管理员失去提现的能力。必须有交互时，用合约调用合约，避免私钥签名。Admin 签名的自由转账权限应当被视为最后手段，并且要把敞口上限设到极其苛刻。这肯定会增加运营的复杂度，但也确保了损失的上限。

目标很明确：尽量不出事，退一万步讲，就算百密一疏，也不能是灭顶之灾。

we're making @blocks smaller today. here's my note to the company.

today we're making one of the hardest decisions in the history of our company: we're reducing our organization by nearly half, from over 10,000 people to just under 6,000. that means over 4,000 of you are being asked to leave or entering into consultation. i'll be straight about what's happening, why, and what it means for everyone.

first off, if you're one of the people affected, you'll receive your salary for 20 weeks + 1 week per year of tenure, equity vested through the end of may, 6 months of health care, your corporate devices, and $5,000 to put toward whatever you need to help you in this transition (if you’re outside the U.S. you’ll receive similar support but exact details are going to vary based on local requirements). i want you to know that before anything else. everyone will be notified today, whether you're being asked to leave, entering consultation, or asked to stay.

we're not making this decision because we're in trouble. our business is strong. gross profit continues to grow, we continue to serve more and more customers, and profitability is improving. but something has changed. we're already seeing that the intelligence tools we’re creating and using, paired with smaller and flatter teams, are enabling a new way of working which fundamentally changes what it means to build and run a company. and that's accelerating rapidly.

i had two options: cut gradually over months or years as this shift plays out, or be honest about where we are and act on it now. i chose the latter. repeated rounds of cuts are destructive to morale, to focus, and to the trust that customers and shareholders place in our ability to lead. i'd rather take a hard, clear action now and build from a position we believe in than manage a slow reduction of people toward the same outcome. a smaller company also gives us the space to grow our business the right way, on our own terms, instead of constantly reacting to market pressures.

a decision at this scale carries risk. but so does standing still. we've done a full review to determine the roles and people we require to reliably grow the business from here, and we've pressure-tested those decisions from multiple angles. i accept that we may have gotten some of them wrong, and we've built in flexibility to account for that, and do the right thing for our customers.

we're not going to just disappear people from slack and email and pretend they were never here. communication channels will stay open through thursday evening (pacific) so everyone can say goodbye properly, and share whatever you wish. i'll also be hosting a live video session to thank everyone at 3:35pm pacific. i know doing it this way might feel awkward. i'd rather it feel awkward and human than efficient and cold.

to those of you leaving…i’m grateful for you, and i’m sorry to put you through this. you built what this company is today. that's a fact that i'll honor forever. this decision is not a reflection of what you contributed. you will be a great contributor to any organization going forward.

to those staying…i made this decision, and i'll own it. what i'm asking of you is to build with me. we're going to build this company with intelligence at the core of everything we do. how we work, how we create, how we serve our customers. our customers will feel this shift too, and we're going to help them navigate it: towards a future where they can build their own features directly, composed of our capabilities and served through our interfaces. that's what i'm focused on now. expect a note from me tomorrow.
