wanted to give props to @HorowitzJason and @brockvereen for really good commentary tonight for UCLA-Purdue. Added excitement and helpful context for a chaotic/fun game. Hope to see more of them calling UCLA games.
@swerve_c Echoes of when the Knicks finally became well-run and perennial contenders after 20 mostly rough years. NBA league office did backflips a few years ago and NFL league office doing them right now
@golferinatlanta@GolfweekNichols To put it bluntly, most western golf fans/media are more interested in seeing English-speaking players than they are the best players. Hence the enthusiasm for Solheim even w/ only 4 of the top 20, and little momentum for a major world event (the Int'l Crown's format is... eh).
NEW: Tim Harris is a Bruin.
He roomed in Dykstra. He biked around Westwood. He captained the men’s soccer team.
After graduating in 1984, he worked 35 years for the Lakers.
Now he’s back, leading #UCLA into this new era as its CEO and AD.

@DstoeckerS@taylormetrics@automaticnba I'd have em all in the same tier but Kobe/Dirk, conceding that reasonable minds can differ.
The main point is that the grand revelation of "look at this guy's decline in his 30s!" seemed over the top when comparable players in same/prior eras had similar declines.
@JimKenn86392040@L0v30n1nt3rn3t agreed, during this discourse i've been pretty surprised to see how many people's memories of a year revolve around which musicians/actors died that year. i love the arts but... really?
this westbrook dunk is my favorite example of the highlight effect, where a highlight means you know something is going to happen, dampening the experience. this is rather mundane as a highlight, but was BONKERS in real time (hence the crew's reaction). https://t.co/QsvMtVoGv1
🚨🇺🇸CHAMPIONSHIP RECORD 🇺🇸🚨
🥇 Tate Taylor 🇺🇸 wins the men’s 200m at the 2026 WU20 Championships in 19.83s CR!

🥉 Jayden Green 🇧🇧 in 20.55s.
6th Gary Card 🇯🇲 in 20.74s
@TronCarterNLU@NoLayingUp Henseleit makes one of the biggest putts of the day to birdie 6 and Pressel is talking over it the whole time! How is this real???
@Marc_Condon@jreece14msu@ShaneRyanHere Yeah, and she led the LPGA in strokes gained tee-to-green in 2024 and 2025. This isn’t coming out of nowhere, it’s the classic “all-world ball striker figures some things out with the putter”
