People are way too focused on what they deserve and not nearly concerned enough with their own growth as a human being and we're all worse off for it
Especially in relationships, there's so much emphasis on finding someone who meets your standards that we rarely stop to question whether we're capable of offering those same things to another person
It's such a self-serving mindset because it allows you to constantly evaluate other people without ever having to evaluate yourself
Of course you should have standards for how you're treated. But you shouldn't be treating the possibility of finding someone "better" as a substitute for examining your own behavior and what you bring to the table
It is deeply unattractive to constantly demand better from the world while making very little effort to become better yourself
Ppl rly don’t realize just how close science was to this. Elizabeth Holmes has a prickly combo of prescience and ego, both features extraordinary, though the latter overtook the former in the spectacle we see now
I hope Elizabeth Holmes successfully accomplishes her vision in this lifetime and we all suddenly have easy at-home blood testers in our houses that accurately monitor our health and I hope a camera pans out from her giant unblinking eyes as she says “I just needed more time ,”
Feel sorry for any of you spending time in your marriages negotiating the exact boundaries of your respective gender roles instead of just jumping to do what you can to make each other’s lives easier within your abilities, couldn’t be me.
Children averaging 5,000 to more than 12,000 steps per day day had fewer mental health symptoms than those taking less than 5,000.
Mental health symptoms were progressively lower across higher step counts with no apparent plateau, even at 12,000+ steps per day.
Brain scans also linked higher step counts to greater thickness in two specific regions of the cortex, the brain’s outer layer.
Daily movement deserves much more attention as a potential way to support kids’ mental health. That's especially clear when you consider that modern-day digital and urban environments provide little opportunity for movement throughout the day.
it's a bit strange how job interviews are social rituals where both people are lying to each other and they both know the other is lying but if the interviewee ever makes the mistake of being honest they instantly lose. why is that how it works why is lying expected
tbh this might be a contributing factor in my turn towards spirituality. i have no capital--no house, no car. the most expensive thing i own is a $600 laptop. i make 1.5x a grad student stipend. the only place i might not be in the permanent underclass is the astral realm.
regardless of the sleep deprivation & chemical reasons, postpartum depression is the most reasonable thing in the world. ur fat, in pain, ugly, ur body is broken, u don’t get hobbies 2 work on or accomplishments 2 measure or anything like that really. & all the while every day that passes ur beautiful perfect baby gets a little bit older & a little bit bigger. & after every beautiful transcendent moment of shocking glory big baby beauty, u see a flash of how fragile we all are & how fast life goes. & there’s nothing 2 distract u from the despair!!! ur forced 2 contemplate life & death all day long in ur stupid underpants!!!!!!!!
@TMobile@TMobileHelp you won't verify a disabled customer remotely, so we had to come into the store 3x and it caused serious health issues. Care hung up on me 3 times. Filed with NJ Civil Rights, #037290. Replies aren't a fix. I'll keep posting until someone resolves this. #ADA
Your customer care organization employs some dark patterns. Your remote verification team does not exist and caused a customer to meet with serious health issues due to having to come in the store. I will continue tweeting publically since you haven’t done a single thing to help.
@TMobile refuses to verify a disabled customer remotely, and your customer care hung up on me 3 times. "Come into the store" is not accessibility, it's a dark pattern. I've filed with NJ Civil Rights. Pls fix. #ADA@TMobileHelp
