The murder weapon & bindings were also from inside the home. The semen could be entirely unrelated to the murder.

He also pitched a suicide mission to Ryan a few episodes earlier & spent the last 2 seasons trying to manufacture & release a virus he knew would kill the kid. He may have cared about him, but he wasn’t against him dying for the cause.
