Every extra 100 milligrams of magnesium per day in otherwise healthy adults. Not pharmacological doses. Just dietary intake within the normal human range. Across 40 long-term studies covering more than a million people: heart failure risk dropped 22%. Stroke risk dropped 7%. Type 2 diabetes risk dropped 19%. Risk of death from any cause dropped 10%.
Separate trials add 6 points off depression severity scores, 2 points off blood pressure, and 2.5 fewer migraine attacks per month.

Children with higher screen exposure at around one year of age are associated with a greater likelihood of #autism spectrum disorder (ASD) or autism-like traits by age three, experts have warned, raising concern over early and prolonged screen use.
“There has been considerable research on #screentime and autism. Studies show that children with higher screen exposure at around one year are more likely to show autism-related traits by age three, particularly among boys,” said Prof Sheffali Gulati, Faculty In-Charge, Pediatric Neurology Division at AIIMS. @timesofindia
Taking vitamins at the right time can significantly improve how well your body absorbs and uses them.
Vitamin D and Omega-3 are best taken in the morning with meals that contain fat, while Vitamin B12 can also be taken in the morning with or without food. Magnesium is typically taken in the evening to promote relaxation and better sleep. Iron should be taken on an empty stomach with vitamin C, avoiding coffee, tea, and calcium for better absorption.
Calcium, zinc, selenium, and vitamin C can be taken at flexible times, but consistency and avoiding certain combinations are key for optimal benefits.
Maximum Temperatures (as on 26-04-2026): Maximum temperatures are in the range of 40-46℃ over most parts of the country except western Himalayan region, northeast Bihar, northeast India, where they are below 36℃.
The highest maximum temperature of 46.9°C was reported at #Akola (VIDARBHA).
Proud moment. The HIV-1 Viral Load Lab at @ICMR_RMRCBBSR has achieved NABL accreditation, becoming the first non-NACP lab in the country to earn this distinction. A major milestone towards advancing quality, precision, & excellence in prevention and control of #HIV/AIDS in India.
🌊 Major Straits of the World and Why They Matter 🗺️
The waterways that control global trade & power:
🇲🇾 Malacca Strait — 60% of global maritime transport, 25% of all traded goods
🇮🇷 Strait of Hormuz — 25% of global oil & 1/3 of world's LNG
🇸🇬 Singapore Strait — 50% of all global seaborne trade
🇹🇷 Bosphorus Strait — world's narrowest; separates Europe from Asia
🇬🇮 Strait of Gibraltar — Atlantic meets Mediterranean; Europe meets Africa
🇨🇱 Magellan Strait — Atlantic meets Pacific via southern Chile
🇦🇺 Bass Strait — Tasmania to mainland Australia
🇺🇸 Bering Strait — only passage between Arctic & Pacific; Asia meets North America
→ Malacca + Singapore = over half of all seaborne trade
→ Block Hormuz and 25% of global oil vanishes overnight
→ These 8 straits are why navies exist

Glycated hemoglobin (HbA1c) remains the gold standard for assessing long-term glycemic control, reflecting the average plasma glucose over the preceding 8–12 weeks. The 2025 Standards of Care released by the American Diabetes Association (ADA) continue to emphasize individualized HbA1c targets while reinforcing its diagnostic and prognostic importance.
Diagnostic Criteria
Diabetes mellitus can be diagnosed using any of the following (preferably confirmed on repeat testing in asymptomatic individuals):
HbA1c ≥ 6.5% (48 mmol/mol)
Fasting Plasma Glucose (FPG) ≥ 126 mg/dL
2-hour Plasma Glucose ≥ 200 mg/dL during OGTT
Random Plasma Glucose ≥ 200 mg/dL with classic symptoms
HbA1c testing should be performed in NGSP-certified laboratories standardized to the DCCT assay.
Glycemic Targets (2025 Recommendations)
1. Non-pregnant Adults:
For most adults with type 2 diabetes, the recommended HbA1c target remains <7.0% (53 mmol/mol) to reduce microvascular and macrovascular complications.
2. Children & Adolescents:
A more stringent goal of <6.5% may be appropriate if achievable without significant hypoglycemia. Early tight control reduces long-term vascular risk.
3. Older Adults:
Targets should be individualized:
Healthy older adults: <7.0–7.5%
Complex/intermediate health: <8.0%
Very complex/poor health: Avoid reliance solely on HbA1c; focus on preventing hypoglycemia and symptomatic hyperglycemia.
Individualization is Key
The ADA strongly advocates tailoring HbA1c goals based on:
Duration of diabetes
Risk of hypoglycemia
Life expectancy
Comorbidities (cardiovascular disease, CKD)
Patient preference and treatment burden
Beyond HbA1c
Modern diabetes care increasingly integrates Continuous Glucose Monitoring (CGM) metrics such as Time in Range (TIR) alongside HbA1c. HbA1c alone may be misleading in conditions like anemia, CKD, hemoglobinopathies, or recent transfusion. Therefore, clinical judgment remains paramount.
Clinical Significance
The 2025 updates reaffirm that while HbA1c remains central, a “one-number-fits-all” strategy is outdated. Safer targets for frail elderly patients and tighter control for younger individuals reflect a shift toward precision medicine in diabetology.

Every night at 9:30 PM, a train quietly leaves Bathinda in Punjab.
Its destination? Bikaner, Rajasthan.
𝗕𝘂𝘁 𝘁𝗵𝗶𝘀 𝗶𝘀 𝗻𝗼 𝗼𝗿𝗱𝗶𝗻𝗮𝗿𝘆 𝘁𝗿𝗮𝗶𝗻.
It is grimly known as the “Cancer Train.”
Because nearly 𝟳𝟬% 𝗼𝗳 𝗶𝘁𝘀 𝗽𝗮𝘀𝘀𝗲𝗻𝗴𝗲𝗿𝘀 𝗿𝗲 𝗰𝗮𝗻𝗰𝗲𝗿 𝗽𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗲𝗻𝘁𝘀.
Every night, these patients 𝘁𝗿𝗮𝘃𝗲𝗹 𝗼𝘃𝗲𝗿 𝟯𝟮𝟱 𝗸𝗶𝗹𝗼𝗺𝗲𝘁𝗲𝗿𝘀 to reach the Acharya Tulsi Regional Cancer Institute in Bikaner.
One of the few institutions in India that offers 𝗳𝗿𝗲𝗲 𝘁𝗿𝗲𝗮𝘁𝗺𝗲𝗻𝘁, 𝗳𝗼𝗼𝗱, 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗹𝗼𝗱𝗴𝗶𝗻𝗴 to patients and their attendants.
Cancer cases are rising across India.
But one state that has witnessed a particularly 𝗮𝗹𝗮𝗿𝗺𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝘀𝘂𝗿𝗴𝗲 for years is 𝗣𝘂𝗻𝗷𝗮𝗯.
Experts trace the 𝗿𝗼𝗼𝘁𝘀 𝗼𝗳 𝘁𝗵𝗶𝘀 𝗰𝗿𝗶𝘀𝗶𝘀 back to the 𝗚𝗿𝗲𝗲𝗻 𝗥𝗲𝘃𝗼𝗹𝘂𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻.
A movement that once turned Punjab into India’s “food bowl” and helped the country 𝗼𝘃𝗲𝗿𝗰𝗼𝗺𝗲 𝗳𝗮𝗺𝗶𝗻𝗲 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗵𝘂𝗻𝗴𝗲𝗿.
But that success came at a cost:
unchecked use of 𝗰𝗵𝗲𝗺𝗶𝗰𝗮𝗹 𝗳𝗲𝗿𝘁𝗶𝗹𝗶𝘇𝗲𝗿𝘀 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗽𝗲𝘀𝘁𝗶𝗰𝗶𝗱𝗲𝘀.
The widespread use of these chemicals 𝗽𝗼𝗶𝘀𝗼𝗻𝗲𝗱 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝘀𝗼𝗶𝗹, 𝗰𝗼𝗻𝘁𝗮𝗺𝗶𝗻𝗮𝘁𝗲𝗱 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝘄𝗮𝘁𝗲𝗿, and ultimately harmed the very farmers who fed the nation.
Yet, this tragedy rarely makes it to primetime debates.
𝗦𝗵𝗼𝘂𝗹𝗱 𝘁𝗵𝗮𝘁 𝘀𝘂𝗿𝗽𝗿𝗶𝘀𝗲 𝘂𝘀? Perhaps not.
𝗕𝘂𝘁 𝘀𝗵𝗼𝘂𝗹𝗱 𝗶𝘁 𝗰𝗼𝗻𝗰𝗲𝗿𝗻 𝘂𝘀? Absolutely.
Because this isn’t just Punjab’s crisis.
These hazardous chemicals, many 𝗯𝗮𝗻𝗻𝗲𝗱 𝗼𝗿 𝘀𝘁𝗿𝗶𝗰𝘁𝗹𝘆 𝗿𝗲𝗴𝘂𝗹𝗮𝘁𝗲𝗱 𝗶𝗻 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗪𝗲𝘀𝘁,
are still widely used across Indian states.
And the common citizen remains completely unaware.

This is why Acharya Prashant keeps reminding us:
"The c𝗼𝗺𝗺𝗼𝗻 𝗺𝗮𝗻 𝗺𝘂𝘀𝘁 𝗳𝗶𝗿𝘀𝘁 𝗯𝗲 𝗮𝘄𝗮𝗸𝗲𝗻𝗲𝗱 to such realities.
Until that happens, we will continue to be poisoned, silently, in the name of '𝗽𝗿𝗼𝗴𝗿𝗲𝘀𝘀' 𝗮𝗻𝗱 '𝗱𝗲𝘃𝗲𝗹𝗼𝗽𝗺𝗲𝗻𝘁'."
Because in a democracy, power ultimately lies with the people.
If the people begin to question, 𝗶𝗳 𝗰𝗹𝗲𝗮𝗻 𝗳𝗼𝗼𝗱, 𝗮𝗶𝗿, 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝘄𝗮𝘁𝗲𝗿 𝗯𝗲𝗰𝗼𝗺𝗲 𝗲𝗹𝗲𝗰𝘁𝗼𝗿𝗮𝗹 𝗶𝘀𝘀𝘂𝗲𝘀, then the leaders will have no choice but to care.
