The World Athletics Continental Tour Silver Meet begins today at Kalinga Stadium, Bhubaneswar, and it is a matter of pride for Odisha to host such a prestigious international athletics event.

I am very happy that 23 of our KIITians will be competing in different events, and 5 of the 6 athletes representing Odisha are from KIIT.

Around 2,000 of my lovable KISS children will also be at Kalinga Stadium to watch the event and cheer for the athletes. I am sure their presence and support will make the occasion even more special.

I also thank the Government of Odisha for bringing such an important international championship to Bhubaneswar. Competitions of this level give our Indian athletes valuable international exposure and will help them prepare better for the Asian Games in Japan this September.

My best wishes to all our KIITians and every athlete taking part. Give your best and make KIIT, Odisha and India proud.

Today is the birth anniversary of my beloved mother, and I feel her presence in so many things around me.

She lived her entire life very simply, quietly and with great love and sacrifice for the family. I never gave her any public exposure during her lifetime. She never came before the public, and she never wanted anything for herself.

But after Maa is gone, I am often surprised and deeply moved to see thousands of people remembering her, showing their love and respect and paying tributes to her soul.

I feel this is the real achievement of a person’s life. We may achieve many things when we are alive, but if people remember us with love after we are gone, I feel there can be no greater achievement. There is a saying that people are often truly valued after they are gone, and I understand this feeling very deeply today.

Today is the 32nd Foundation Day of KIIT Polytechnic, and I was very happy to celebrate this special day with our students, faculty and staff, while also welcoming the new first-year students to the KIIT family.

KIIT Polytechnic is very special to me because it is one of the institutions with which the journey of KIIT actually began. Established in 1995, it has grown over the years and produced thousands of diploma engineers who are doing very well in different fields. I have always said that the huge KIIT we see today stands on the strong foundation laid by KIIT Polytechnic and KIIT ITI.

I told my young students that they are now under the KIIT platform, which itself is a strong brand. They have access to good campuses, laboratories, facilities and many opportunities to learn. This is the age of skills, so they should not remain confined only to their courses. I advised them to keep learning, develop new skills, maintain discipline and use technology in a positive way.

I feel extremely happy and proud that two of my lovable KIITians, Tejaswin Shankar and Priyanka Goswami, have been selected for the prestigious Arjuna Award 2025. Both have brought glory to India through athletics and have made the entire KIIT family proud.

Tejaswin has represented India with distinction in high jump and decathlon, winning the Asian Games Silver Medal, while Priyanka, an Olympian and one of India’s leading race walkers, won the Silver Medal at the Commonwealth Games.

At KIIT, we have always given special importance to sports and tried to provide our sportspersons with all possible support to grow and perform for the country.
My best wishes to both of them for many more achievements and for continuing to make India proud.

Happy to welcome and interact with a 40-member delegation of monks and teachers from Bhutan, who are here at KIIT and KISS under the Cambridge Education Academic Immersion Programme and our IndiaTrek initiative.

They will spend more than a week with us, visiting our campuses, interacting closely with students and faculty and taking part in academic and cross-cultural activities. This is the fifth batch from Bhutan, and over the years many monks, teachers and students from Bhutan have come to KIIT and KISS for such learning and exchange programmes.

I am especially happy that the Royal Government of Bhutan continues to send such delegations to KIIT and KISS. It reflects the trust and relationship that has developed over the years.

India and Bhutan share a very special friendship, and such programmes bring our young people, teachers and institutions even closer. I hope our friends from Bhutan carry back good memories of Odisha, KIIT and KISS and continue this beautiful association in the years ahead.

I feel very happy that three of my lovable KIITians — Tanish Choudhary, Mritunjoy Mahanta and Sarthak Singh Jadon — have been selected in the Prime Volleyball League Season 5 through the Player Auction held in Goa.

Tanish has been picked by Telugu Black Hawks for ₹14 lakh, Mritunjoy by Mumbai Meteors for ₹5 lakh, and Sarthak by Calicut Heroes for ₹7.75 lakh. It gives me great happiness to see our young volleyball players reaching the professional level through their hard work.

Volleyball has a very special place at KIIT, and we have been continuously trying to give our players the best facilities, coaching and exposure. With FIVB now recognising PVL as India’s first-division professional volleyball league, this will also give our young players greater opportunities in the days ahead.

My heartfelt congratulations and best wishes to all three of them. I am sure they will play well and continue to make KIIT and India proud.

My surprise visits to the hostels continued today, and I spent some time with our first-year KIITians.

I keep visiting the hostels and checking the food myself because I always want to know what my students are eating and whether they are happy with it. I was very happy to see that they are satisfied with the food and the arrangements.

It has always been my habit to taste the food myself and check its quality. Today, I also sat with my KIITians and ate with them. These are very simple moments, but they give me a lot of happiness.

When my students are happy, comfortable and well taken care of, I also feel peaceful and happy.

Today being Sunday, I went on a surprise visit to see the dining facilities for our KISS University hostel students.

From this year, we have introduced a new, modern and more comfortable dining facility for our lovable KISSians. I felt very happy to see them sitting together, enjoying their meals comfortably and feeling so happy with the new arrangement.

As it is Sunday, there was a non-vegetarian menu today, and seeing my children enjoying their food gave me great satisfaction. For me, their comfort, happiness and well-being always come first.

These small moments give me a different kind of happiness. When I see my children happy, I also feel happy from within.

Seeing all my children together with the Tiranga, celebrating with so much enthusiasm and pride, made me very happy. Their energy, discipline and love for the country made the occasion very special.

Celebrated Har Ghar Tiranga with my 40,000 lovable KISS children at KISS Bhubaneswar.

Seeing so many of my children together with the Tiranga filled me with great happiness and pride. This initiative of Hon’ble Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi Ji has brought the National Flag closer to every Indian and especially to our young generation.

May the spirit of the Tiranga always inspire us to work for our country.

Celebrated Har Ghar Tiranga with my lovable KIITians today. I was very happy to see the enthusiasm among our students and the pride with which they carried the Tiranga.

Har Ghar Tiranga, launched by Hon’ble Prime Minister Shri @narendramodi Ji under Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav, has become a beautiful people’s movement across the country. My gratitude to Hon’ble Prime Minister for giving us such a wonderful initiative and encouraging every Indian, especially our young generation, to feel even more connected with the Tiranga.

Today I am in Udaipur, Rajasthan, where I delivered the keynote address at 42 Degrees – Ken42’s Annual Higher Education Summit 2026 and shared some thoughts from my journey of building KIIT and KISS and my experience in higher education.

I also had a very meaningful conversation with Dr Anurag Batra Ji, Chairman, BW Businessworld, on higher education and how our universities should prepare themselves for the changing needs of young people and the future.

Many senior academicians, university leaders, policymakers and industry experts came together at the summit to discuss the future of higher education. I shared my experiences and exchanged ideas on how our institutions can do more for young people and for society.

For me, education has always been about creating good human beings and building institutions that can continue to serve society for generations. I was happy to share the KIIT-KISS journey with everyone present.

On International Youth Day, my greetings and best wishes to all the young people across the world.

I have spent most of my life among young people, and I have always believed that youth are the greatest strength of any nation. They have energy, dreams, new ideas and the power to bring change. If they get good education, values and the right opportunities, there is nothing they cannot achieve.

My simple message to all my young friends is: dream big, work hard, remain a good human being and use your knowledge for the good of society. Your future is also the future of our nation.

On National Librarians’ Day, my greetings to all the librarians who quietly play such an important role in the education and growth of our students.

I personally value books and libraries very much. That is why, at KIIT, we have always given great importance to libraries across our campuses. All 30 of our campuses have their own libraries and reading rooms, and we also have a very modern Central Library spread over 10,000 sq. metres, with a huge collection of books, journals, e-books and digital resources. Students and researchers can also access many of these resources round the clock. I always want our students to have the best possible facilities to read, learn and gain knowledge.

For me, a library is not only a place where books are kept; it is a place where knowledge grows. Librarians are the people who help our young minds find the right knowledge and develop the habit of reading and learning.

On this day, we also remember Dr S. R. Ranganathan, whose contribution to library sciences in India will always be remembered.

Sharing a glimpse of the experiences of our IndiaTrek participants from the City University of New York after spending over 10 days with us at KIIT and KISS.

The 28 students and 10 faculty members, coming from different parts of the world, closely experienced life at KIIT and KISS, interacted with our students and faculty, and also explored the culture, heritage, food and warmth of Odisha and India.

It gives me great happiness to hear them speak so warmly about our campuses, hospitality and the people they met. This is the real purpose of IndiaTrek — to let young people experience Odisha and India for themselves and carry those memories back to the world.

I hope they will always remain good friends of KIIT, KISS, Odisha and India.

I felt very happy to interact with the 28 students and 10 faculty members from the City University of New York (CUNY) who are here as part of our IndiaTrek initiative. They come from different parts of the world and are presently studying and teaching at CUNY. Some of them are also associated with the research centre at CUNY named after me.

After spending more than a week at KIIT and KISS, interacting closely with our students, faculty and staff and experiencing life on our campuses, they were very curious to meet and talk with me. I was very happy to hear their feelings. They said that after seeing the entire ambience, environment and infrastructure of KIIT and KISS with their own eyes, they were simply amazed. They also appreciated the love and hospitality they received during their stay.

Through IndiaTrek, every year we are also trying to take Odisha to the world. Our participants experience the culture, heritage, food, traditions and important tourist places of Odisha, along with visits to Delhi and the Taj Mahal in Agra. When they return to their countries, they carry with them not only memories of KIIT and KISS, but also a beautiful experience of Odisha and India.

This is what makes IndiaTrek very special for me. Young people from different countries come here, live together, learn together and understand our culture closely. I hope they will remain friends of KIIT, KISS, Odisha and India throughout their lives.
