It has been 30 days since my mother and my aunts, Dr. Uzma and Noreen Niazi, were unlawfully detained under the MPO. Throughout their detention at Kot Lakhpat Jail, they have been denied access to family and legal counsel.

No one, especially women, should be subjected to such treatment. With the detention order now ending, they must be released immediately.

Imran Khan’s cousin, Qasim Zaman, a completely non-political individual who has never made public statements or participated in politics, has now also been detained under the draconian MPO. Mass human rights violations continue as Pakistan continues its free fall into what they proudly call a “hard state.”And all of this is happening while UN Secretary-General @antonioguterres is visiting Pakistan.
Surely Imran Khan’s treatment and fundamental rights must be on the agenda, but so too must the detention and persecution of his family members, party leaders and workers.

UPDATE: Further accounts are emerging from the police raids on the neighbouring homes of Imran Khan’s sisters, Aleema Khan and Dr Uzma Khan.

Sakeena, their 20-year-old niece, who was arrested and later released, says more than 200 police entered the properties, broke down Dr Uzma’s bedroom door and dragged staff from their quarters.

Aleema Khan’s two sons were also detained and, according to the family, released around three hours later.

This is a disgrace.

Now my Aunts Dr. Uzma and Noureen, along with my cousins Shershah and Shahrez have now been abducted as well.

They have broken into my aunties and cousins houses and forced them
into vehicles with no explanation.

No reasons for arrest have been stated.

No news has been released as to where they have been taken.

This is criminal behaviour. Inexcusable. The Pakistani people are petrified of their own leaders.

No upstanding nation should tolerate this criminal establishment. Intervention is now imperative.

The world MUST take action.
