I am humbled and honoured to be conferred the Padma Bhushan. The India of today is unrecognisable from the one I was born in. The journey has been exhilarating. On this Republic Day, we stand at the fork of many roads. I choose the path of karma with a sense of paranoia, with aspiration but conscious of ground realities. I have deep conviction that we, the people will make India even greater. We have miles to go before we sleep…
Facts below (1/5):
In 2025, average earnings per hour (EPH), excluding tips, for a delivery partner on Zomato were ₹102.
In 2024, this number was ₹92. That’s a ~10.9% year-on-year increase. Over a longer horizon also, EPH has shown steady growth.
Most delivery partners work for a few hours and only a few days in a month. But if someone were to work for 10 hours/day, 26 days/month, this translates to ~₹26,500/month in gross earnings. After accounting for fuel and maintenance (~20%), the net earnings for the partner are ~₹21,000/month.
Note: Earnings per hour are calculated on total hours logged in, including the time when the partner might be waiting to receive an order. Earnings per “busy hour” will be higher but that’s not the right metric to look at.
On top of this - delivery partners earn 100% of tips given by customers. The average tip per hour in 2025 on Zomato was INR 2.6 and in 2024 was INR 2.4 per hour. Tips are transferred instantly, with zero deductions. We absorb the payment gateway processing cost ourselves. About 5% of the orders get tipped on Zomato; 2.5% on Blinkit.
Great to see the Koti Vruksha Abhiyana, a fantastic people's movement, is featured in @nytimes.
Congratulations to Minister @MBPatil for his vision and leadership in this initiative, which planted 1.5 crore trees and boosted the district's forest cover from 0.17% to 2%. A true example of collective action and political will.
Proud of Karnataka's green success!

There are some farewells that don’t feel like an ending. They feel like a punch to the gut. @imVkohli
My 4 year old believes he’s the greatest cricketer of this generation and he’s not wrong. Maybe, one day, he will grow up and question the stats (which are not modest at all) and that’s when I’ll tell him the stories.
The story of that second innings 141 at Adelaide in 2014. Chasing 364 for victory.
Of 235 vs England in Mumbai, 2016
where Kohli grinded for nearly nine hours.
Of 149 at Edgbaston, 2018
when he played out of his skin.
Because what he gave us can’t be measured in numbers.
‘For 60 overs, they should feel like hell’ will ring in the annals of Indian Test cricket for a long time.
He made us into an all conditions Test team.
He built the greatest pace attack this country has ever seen.
He made Test cricket the real deal. The prized possession. The ultimate price. In a world which rewards click bait, he made a hard work SEXY
I have so much to say
but somehow, words don’t feel enough.
Kohli in Tests wasn’t just cricket.
He was an emotion.
Kohli didn’t just play Test cricket.
He elevated it.
Test cricket will go on.
But for an Indian cricket nut..
It may never feel quite this personal again.
I am not going to say “Thank you, King’
Because I’m not ready. Not yet.

Firstly, in every single one of those categories in that WhatsApp message, there are excellent Indian startups at all stages doing some great work. The Hon. Union Minister could have used the forum to highlight positive work - why use the forum to attack Indian founders?
It is terrible to see the forum of Startup Mahakumbh forum being abused in this manner.
Secondly, there is absolutely nothing wrong with investing in consumer tech, marketplaces, gaming or other industries. We cannot and must not apply a nationalistic moral lens to venture investing - people will and must invest where there are returns to be made.
Founders will start companies where they see prospects and opportunities. The fact is consumer tech companies have created tens of thousands of jobs and returns thousands of crores in capital to investors. Many of those who made money in consumer are now frontier tech investors. The last thing anybody - especially a Union Minister - should do is berate or hector them.
Thirdly, there are good structural reasons why deep tech entrepreneurship remains very challenging. The Govt should address the specific challenges and frictions - not attack the founders and investors 🤷♂️
At the same time China is practicing the PE/VC equivalent of politically directed tele-banking lending we have seen in India - don’t think we can or should have such PE/VC activity in India https://t.co/ZSauULRhJz
All in all a very unfortunate statement by the Hon. Minister. I hope more people speak out against it instead of just looking the other way. https://t.co/p11hUeFXUH
30 years after graduating, the only piece of advice that I can give students is that if you have a choice between a good course in an average college & an average course in a good college, go for the good college.
What you studied will not matter as much as where you studied!
College graduate comes from the US, wants to play Super Selector on ESPN during the first ever IPL and finds it's not around.
He decides then to make his own fantasy site.
15 years on, Dream11 will the name on the Indian cricket team jersey.
Quite a journey @harshjain85

The very news that an island in Andaman & Nicobar is named after our hero Capt. Vikram Batra leaves me with goosebumps!
My heart swells with pride that I was fortunate to live his role on screen. This step taken by PM @narendramodi ensures that Shershaah lives on forever.
