13th Avenue is the heart of one of the most walkable areas in Regina.
A grocery store, cafes, relatively dense housing, a school. Residents walk to these amenities daily.
We must redesign our roads, not for the cars to speed through, but for people to live life in—safely.
At long last, we finally have something in writing that makes clear what is expected of home and building owners in #yqr. It’ll require sustained bylaw enforcement (and we’ll see how that goes) but in the meantime, thank you #yqrcc. 💜

Hello, #YQRCC! It’s been awhile…
First up on today’s agenda: the sidewalk snow-clearing bylaw.
Admin suggests council approve an amendment to require all residents to clear their sidewalks within 48 hrs of a snowfall, starting in January.

@gussynichols Agreed. Though any progress at all on this front feels like we’re suddenly light years ahead. How long does it take to acknowledge that the sidewalks in a winter city require season-long maintenance?
Vote on clean property amendment to rquire sidewalk shovelling. Clerk asks for drumroll as this is first electronic vote: Carries 9 to 2. Againsts were Mohl & Findura. #yqrcc
Bring Back the Neighborhood Corner Store! If you wonder where they have gone, we no longer allow them in most neighbourhoods in most cities. Such an easy thing to fix with a little bit of political will. https://t.co/awxmjIPRTj
@CityofRegina And yet, unattended and unsafe road construction sites are a common occurrence every summer in #yqr. If the City really is regularly monitoring these sites, how does this happen? @astevensward3 @loribresciani#yqrcc
Hi, @CityofRegina. Any idea why the corner of Albert St. & 11th/Sinton lane looks like this? No sign of work happening here today, and it’s an open pit, just waiting for someone to fall in. Even worse at night. Where are the safety barriers? @astevensward3 @CMHARegina#yqrcc
@CityofRegina Thanks. Does @CityofRegina have policy that tells contractors how they’re expected to safely maintain sites such as this? Are they inspected by the City once work is underway? This isn’t the 1st time we’ve noticed a dangerous construction zone left unattended in #yqr.
