No more smart cities. I want dumb cities. Cities that anyone can use and live in, public infrastructure that makes so much sense you don't have to think twice to interact. A city where I don't have to watch strangers struggle to understand Presto or bikesharing or parking.
@BradMBradford I'll pay triple my property tax as an already strapped human if it means I can have better services for my city and those with less means. Happily!

I just had a positive customer service experience. With @TorontoHydro. And their website was easy to use! Is my curse of having bad luck with online service finally...lifting?
@Monica_E_G Inadequate management is the number one reason. There's an old guard with a specific attitude around what work is, that doesn't hinge on output but rather, on keeping up appearances. It's gutting.

@dr_abela This is a constant challenge on the open data side. Protecting people is integral but we suffer from the suppression and aggregation of the identifiable value of the data itself. It's a balancing act and I keep wondering if the answer is consent at the data collection phase.
Today I did a recap of everything we've accomplished with open data at @ESDC_GC in the last year and it was a really good reminder to record your wins whenever you can because my heart feels full. ❤️ This is the good fight.
