Building a resilient business in India takes time. I can't think of many who have done it in <10 years. If VC funds have 7-year lifecycles and push startups for exits within 7 years, how can anyone build a good business? Maybe the fund lifecycles for India should be longer. 4/10
Heartening to see the thoughtfulness of @airvistara (esp Shivani who was amazing at check in!) and @DelhiAirport in attending to the needs of parents traveling with kids. Separate queues, reasonable flexibility with baggage etc made it a breeze when it could have been an ordeal
View from my room at Treebo Ortus Residency, Dharamshala. What's not to love about such work trips! Btw such an amazing destination this is - great flight connectivity, lovely little markets, good roads, and of course, many such gorgeous views.
Kaddy - you have been a phenomenal partner in this journey. Have learnt so much from you. What you created here will quietly but surely hold the foundations of Treebo strong forever. Thank you and good luck, brother.
1/ It's the end of an era as I exit my operator role at @Treebohotels. An exit to me is a cognitive shift rather than a physical one. I now look forward to playing a new role, that of an advisor, board member, and a cheerleader from the sides.
Let's see what this VC thing is all about then. Excited to be joining the team at Matrix Partners. Hoping to be the kind of investor I've respected as a founder - Honest, Empathetic and All-in.
Thanks Avnish, Rajat, Rajinder, Tarun, Vikram and team @matrixindiavc for having me.
This is such a brilliant move. Unique experiences like these can be a game changer for the tourism sector.
P.S: I hope in the future there will be shorter duration versions too :)

The sight of people taking selfies with aircrafts, with beaming smiles, is so beautiful. Great indicator of first time/early flyers getting added to the traveller base of India. Incredible potential for the sector ahead with travel getting added to consumption basket of millions!
From getting hit by a train to being over the moon. From getting reduced to 3% of your earlier revenues to doing 100%+. From Apr'20 to Apr'22. What an incredible, character building 2 yrs! 100% recovery FTW! Gotta throw this metric out of our decks now! 🤞

I think 1 reason to not give up too quickly on your startup (vs fishing for opportunities) is that time can solve your problems: a new technology arrives, a critical hire joins, an insight is discovered accidentally, the important problem becomes unimportant, etc.
Stick with it!
This is great news for the startup ecosystem. Elevation's humongous success is not an accident. They are perhaps the nicest, smartest team around and that's what has made them a part of some of the most phenomenal startup stories in India and the go to fund for founders. Kudos!
More fuel to power the ambitions of India 🚀🚀🚀
Delighted to announce our Fund VIII of $670Mn, our largest ever. Focussed on early stage and all for India. We are All In @ElevCap
Seema, my wife, was diagnosed with breast cancer last Nov. She decided to share her journey & learnings till now to create awareness on cancer & the importance of regular health checkups, health insurance & overall health & well being.
Happy Women's Day.

There is a silent cruelty committed every morning by dads who promptly get ready and get on with their (mostly fun and stimulating) work while the mom puts up with the excruciating morning routines of kids.
@banglani His secretary sent him to campus 1 hour earlier than scheduled. He was being hosted at those beautiful MDC lawns when I went to meet him and he told me as soon as he heard my name - "So you are the one responsible for this mess!" Then he looked away like I didn't exist.
