2:46 p.m.
IT finally restored the company's internet.
The board meeting was rescheduled.
At 3:02 p.m., HR sent an email to everyone:
“The personal-phone policy is temporarily suspended until further notice.”
Daniel read it quietly.
Then his manager walked over.
Manager: “Happy now?”
Daniel: “No.”
Manager: “Then what do you want?”
Daniel opened his payslip.
“My $225 back.”
The manager stared at him.
“You accepted those fines without complaining.”
Daniel smiled.
“I was following the rules.”
Then he forwarded HR the three deduction notices.
“Now I'm asking you to follow them too.”
