@ArikeBeauty53 It doesn't mean there's no doctor on ground waiting to be called. As a doctor when you're on duty you don't even sleep properly because you're expecting calls from the nurses.

@ArikeBeauty53 The nurses continue following the plan the doctor wrote but if the patient has concerns or there's an issue or an emergency, they call the doctor who is trying to rest in the call room.
So if no emergency or no issue on the ward u might not see a doctor at night.

Like I said, it depends on the conditions of the patient on the ward.

Then update his plan or ask the nurses to continue the previous plan since there's improvement.

But don't generalize it cos it's not like that everywhere.
Every sector has 1 or 2 bad eggs but you won't generalize it.
But I don't know why when it comes to healthcare workers people tend to just generalize it.

So maybe the patient is like you that wants the doctor to be by his bedside if not I'm sure the doctor must have done his rounds that day.

What I'm saying is if he still had that much strength to o shout at the nurses means he not that bad that a doctor can't leave his care to the nurses after writing out the care plan.

@blackedhartv2 It should be changed. But Nigeria has a severe shortage of doctors. Many have left the country, leaving too few to cover hospitals. That's why 24hour calls are still common. It's not ideal it's a staffing problem, not a choice.

If there's a critical patient the doctor would always come to check unless he's sure the patient is stable enough and won't Detororiate and there's nothing else to add as patient is stable

@blackedhartv2 Most hospitals don't run 3 shifts for doctors like they do for nurses, if a doctor is on call it means he's working 24hrs that day and will still have to come to work the next morning.
So during call hours if there's no emergency or no critical patient, d Dr needs to rest.

@blackedhartv2 They're usually in the call room and are called immediately if a patient deteriorates, develops a new complaint, or there's an emergency. If everyone is stable, you may not see the doctor overnight and that's exactly how the system is designed to work.
