At #ESMOBreast2025, Dr. @SixtenHarborg shared an analysis from the Nurses’ Health Study showing that weight gain after diagnosis may raise #breastcancer death risk. Study followed 6,800+ women between 1978 - 2018, with follow-up ranging from 4–15 years.

Obesity➡️ worse prognosis & different biology #breastcancer.
Still, BMI is only reported in 8% of 495 trials we reviewed. More research needed to study impact of BMI on treatment efficacy and toxicity🙏 !

Important point by @ErikaHamilton9. A common questions from pts is: what should I take (or eat) to reduce my risk of recurrence? The answer to this question should not come from retrospective studies, often burdened by confounding bias, but should derive from RCTs. #ESMOBreast24
So happy to be at the #ESMOBreast24 and share our results on the impact of metabolic syndrome on breast cancer outcomes🔬
BC patients with metabolic syndrome have poorer outcomes compared to their peers without metabolic syndrome ‼️

At #ESMOBreast24:
In a Danish population-based cohort 🇩🇰 study statin use ⬇️ breast cancer mortality 💊
Validation in prospective randomized trials is needed‼️
A phase 3 trial is ongoing https://t.co/4NBPap9N4G
@OncoAlert
Emulated target trial looking at #statins in early #bcsm
Those that received statins had ⬆️ survival.
🎯 Question is what other healthy behaviors are associated with statin use?
Hard to conclude much with study design, MASTER randomized will help.

@ErikaHamilton9@myESMO Thanks a lot - doing our best to provide the evidence needed for statins in breast cancer in the MASTER trial: https://t.co/AxbJriBSjf
Glimt fra ph.d.-gruppens udflugt til Kræftens Bekæmpelses forskningsenhed. Det var en spændende og lærerig dag med formålet at fremme fremtidigt samarbejde på tværs af vores organisationer. Stort tak for invitationen. @cancer_dk#DanishCancerInstitute
@oncaarhus@MarieTvilum @HealthAarhusUni @AUHdk Lots of happiness and brightness around @MarieTvilum - again, my warmest congratulations on the great achievement, dear Marie🌹
