โBelief clings, but faith lets go.โ - Alan Watts
Life might be the humbling process of letting go of one belief after another, unlearning everything you have learned, and eventually, hold onto and attach to nothing.
@Lord_Chord @AliAbdaal Not until recently I realized my life became less fun with this over optimization mindset. I start to ask myself whatโs the point of being productive? What do I want to do with this โextraโ time I save, which leads to the ultimate question of what do I want out of life. ๐
@Lord_Chord @AliAbdaal Yup! Productivity should be a means to an end not an end in itself. I certainly fell in the trap of, and still am, trying to optimize for everything and be as productive as possible all the time.
@AliAbdaal But in general, when we discover a new&potentially better way of doing things, we often first try to show that itโs wrong/bad/inferior. Acknowledging itโs better means we have been doing it โwrongโ and our ego does not like that.
@AliAbdaal Maybe it only seems bad when you say itโs for the sake of productivity. My roommate does this all the time and only slows down at the good parts. She does it because it makes sense, not intentionally to be more โproductiveโ.
@noverthinking@p_millerd@AliAbdaal@naval Itโs exciting and scary at the same time.
You might feel lost more often than you would like.
Kudos to those who have figured it out.
Cheers to those on the journey of figuring it out. ๐ฅ
@noverthinking@p_millerd@AliAbdaal@naval Charting your own path seems glamorous from the outside.
Two non-obvious things I found are
- the *continuous* courage to not follow traditional paths #fomo
- the self-discovery&awareness to figure out what you want your life to be like, especially if you are not after money/fame
