What does EigenLayer slashing mean for our holders?

With slashing set to go live later today, @eigencloud will be able to penalize AVS operators who act dishonestly — strengthening security and enabling more sustainable rewards for those who restake 👇

When slashing is enabled, AVSs must compete to attract restaked ETH by offering stronger incentives.

That means more AVSs, greater demand for security, and more yield for those who provide it.

• Will holding $mETH earn AVS rewards?

Holding alone is not sufficient. Users must actively restake $mETH into EigenLayer and select their preferred operators.

As more slashing-enabled AVSs come online, they will compete to attract restaked ETH by offering stronger incentives — creating more verifiable yield opportunities for $mETH holders.

• What about $cmETH?

Holding $cmETH provides passive, risk-adjusted exposure to restaking opportunities — without the need to actively manage or monitor positions, due to its unique vault model.

While more details can’t be shared yet, $cmETH holders stand to benefit from increased rewards as slashing goes live.

Slashing activation marks a major milestone for EigenLayer, completing its core restaking model and unlocking the next phase of AVS innovation.
