We are hearing reports of mobs in Belfast used lists showing where migrants lived. Thankfully, no one has died but many are traumatised. For Sikhs, this evokes painful memories of November 1984, when organised mobs used lists to target Sikh families.

There is not a single documented case of someone being killed by an actual kirpan in the UK, US, or Canada. Not one.
You know what's ceremonial? Your outrage.
The event has become a popular fixture in the calendar for Sikhs, with this year's event no different. The tournament sees football used to bring Sikhs together and honour the legacy of the Shaheeds (martyrs) of India's 1984 Sikh genocide.

...issues, which seems to have only created more uproar online due to the conduct of the antagonists, who are unaffiliated with any org.
Sikh PA remain on hand to offer media authentic insight and connection to Sikh communities across the globe.

🚨 Indian media is deliberately ignoring the protests in Jalandhar, Punjab where locals are protesting against harassment by the Indian Army and local police. Residents report being treated like outsiders, facing constant checkpoints and barricades. Yet, neither political parties nor mainstream media are covering this.
⚠️ This post is shared strictly for news and informational purposes. Concerns have been raised about possible attempts by Indian authorities to suppress or criminalize reporting of this incident or related discussions.

Yesterday was a massive challenge in London managing the media and messaging to strike the right balance in remembering the thousands of Sikhs who lost their lives 42 years ago and addressing the Anti-Sikh hate that has been unleashed in the UK.
These interviews were given yesterday knowing we had put off announcing our call for a public inquiry until today.
Our press release and the letter to @ShabanaMahmood@DavidLammy@attorneygeneral today stated:
“By allowing a convicted murderer's false characterisation of the weapon to stand unchallenged in open court, the justice system facilitated a highly damaging wave of misinformation.
“This lack of judicial and prosecutorial clarity has triggered inappropriate political commentary, brought a sacred article of the Sikh faith into disrepute, and directly resulted in a surge of targeted hate speech, verbal abuse, and violent physical attacks against the visible Sikh community across the UK.
“The state has fundamentally failed in its duty to safeguard the British Sikh community from this predictable fallout.”
We continue to get reports of serious Anti-Sikh hate, but we have not seen messages of support from the leaders of political parties.
@Keir_Starmer@KemiBadenoch@EdwardJDavey@Nigel_Farage@StephenFlynnSNP@LSRPlaid@ZackPolanski remain silent despite @Dabinderjit’s live appeal on @SkyNews with @SophyRidgeSky and @WilfredFrost this morning.
The one exception is @TiceRichard who has stated in a tweet in the last hour:
“We clearly need a full inquiry into Hampshire Police actions and circumstances in the years up to the horrific murder to identify whether prior failures meant this was a preventable death.
“I have had multiple discussions with Sikh leaders on the Henry Nowak tragedy.”
🙏🙏🙏
We have 650 MPs that must all have watched or read the news today about our call for a public inquiry. Please share your views and show leadership like our community leaders from the @SikhFedUK
We fully support the protest being held today at the Ladowal Toll Plaza in Ludhiana by Qaumi Insaf Morcha and various farmers’ organizations for the release of Sikh prisoners, and we strongly demand their immediate release.
The Central Government itself issued a notification in 2019 paving the way for the release of Sikh prisoners. However, despite this, their continued incarceration raises serious questions about both the government’s credibility and its intent.
Keeping prisoners in jail for years even after they have completed their sentences is contrary to the fundamental principles of justice. It also gives rise to concerns of religious discrimination against Sikh prisoners, which goes against the values of democracy, the Constitution, and the principle of equality before the law.
Justice has meaning only when it is delivered in a timely manner. The issue of the release of Sikh prisoners is not a matter of politics; rather, it is a matter of justice, human rights, and constitutional equality.
A Punjabi Sikh is set to play in the Fifa World Cup for the first time in the tournament's history, after it starts this week.
New Zealand's number 10 Sarpreet Singh (27, born in Auckland) spoke with Indian media about the honour, which marks a new milestone for Sikhs in sport.

The murder of Henry Nowak was tragic, abhorrent, & utterly condemnable. But conflating the weapon used in that attack with the Sikh kirpan is both inaccurate & harmful. We can mourn Henry, demand accountability, & confront violence without stigmatising Sikh religious practices.
...event went ahead as normal. Pursuit for justice for India's Sikh genocide and wider stances against all tyranny were reaffirmed by speakers, as Sikh prayers rang loud across the capital during the march from Hyde Park to Trafalgar Square.

A Sikh gathering saw over 10,000+ come together in London (UK) yesterday.

Over 10,000 Sikhs to gather in London today to mark the June 1984 Sikh Genocide in Amritsar and are hopeful if Andy Burnham @AndyBurnhamGM becomes the new PM he will deliver on @UKLabour’s promise of a judge-led inquiry.
Over 200 MPs, including over 100 Labour MPs, have confirmed in writing their backing for a judge-led public inquiry into UK involvement on the attack on the Harmandir Sahib Complex in June 1984 and anti-Sikh measures in Britain under Thatcher.
