I like how Jim Knight relates “Lasorda’s Law” when trying to maintain control with students and allowing them enough freedom.

High-Impact Instruction part 3
Our book study on "High Impact Instruction" by Jim Knight continues this week in Advanced Instructional Methods as we read and discuss chapters 10-15. When my students read something that impacts their classroom practices, they will retweet this and share it! #ImpactLearningKS
I'm with you...I've learned so much in regards to John Hattie's effect size for instructional methods. My biggest impact that we share is CLAIRITY accompanied with Learning Intentions and Success Criteria's.

I have learned so much from John Hattie on the effect sizes of different instructional methods. What stood out to me the most was teacher clarity and feedback. I have already started applying these into my classroom and can't wait to use them more! #ImpactLearningKS
@hpeine One thing that impacted my learning from class this week was the 250+ Influences that impact student learning. The research was very interesting and quickly had me re-evaluating my current teaching practices!

Oh my goodness...after I read about Natalie and Coach Cheeks I searched youtube for the video. It made me cry. I agree this video was the perfect example of building community! #ImpactLearningKS
One of the 5 high-impact instructional strategies is effectively using thinking prompts to provide helpful anchors for student learning. The example of Cheeks and Natalie Anthem video is an excellent example of building community! #ImpactLearningKS
Students are more engaged when the content they're learning is exciting and gets them involved. Creating fun but academically challenging lessons is a way to get students engaged in their learning. #ImpactLearningKS
Week Three: Advanced Instructional Methods
Something that impacted me this week was giving “praise” to students is not the kind of feedback that leads to student’s academic growth! WHOOPS!

@hpeine I have been most impacted with “Success Criteria”! With much reflections on past given assignments to my students… I feel like this was my weakest area! For sure, “Success Criteria” will be part of my lesson planning going forward!!

Week 2: Advanced Instructional Methods
Clarity involves three important questions for learners:
What am I learning?
Why am I learning it?
How do I know I’ve learned it?
#ImpactLearningKS
My Advanced Instructional Methods students are learning about the Visible Learning research from John Hattie this week. I look forward to seeing how their new learning will impact Kansas students! #ImpactLearningKS
