They sculpted bodies like vessels filled with divine breath, using the tribhanga (triple-bend) posture to achieve fluid movement.
Western art captures the physical body.
Indian art captures the soul moving through it.
In my view, every culture shapes its art according to how it understands life itself.

I figured out a way to retrieve a distance map from geometry directly in Shaders, in Blender 5.1, using the Raycast node. It's not perfect, the higher the distance, the blurrier it gets, but it almost works!
