Cada vez que te pidan tu opinión —o sientas el impulso de opinar— sobre una posible política pública o iniciativa gubernamental, hazte una pregunta sencilla pero poderosa: “Si esto llega a concretarse, ¿le da más o menos poder al Estado sobre mi vida?” Si la respuesta es que le da más poder, aunque suene atractivo o bien intencionado, probablemente sea contraproducente y termine erosionando la libertad individual. Si, por el contrario, reduce el poder del Estado sobre las decisiones personales, entonces va en dirección opuesta: hacia una mayor autonomía y responsabilidad individual. A veces, la claridad nace de una sola pregunta bien formulada.
