CATHOLIC PRIESTS DOING NYSC
I have been living in the same hostel here with ordained Rev. Frs. for almost 21 days without knowing that they were priests.
We arrived on the same day and passed through the same process. Not even the camp management or the soldiers knew that they were Rev. Frs. We did frog jumps together 😆, squat downs, marches, inter-platoon activities, and went through the stress of registration without them telling anyone they were priests. Even the activities of Man O’ War were not exempted.
It was early yesterday morning while I was wearing my apron for reading that I saw four of them busy wearing their soutanes, cassocks, etc. Photo! 🤣 One of the platoon leaders shouted. It was like a movie to many of the opposite gender 🤣 and very surprising to the management.
This is the kind of life I admire — their dedication, active participation, and humility. I give them their flowers, and also the Bishop who instructed that all protocols should be observed to the very end. This is the Church I want.

To our courageous frontline health workers, dedicated staff of the Ministry, and the general public,
Easter reminds us of sacrifice, renewal, and the triumph of hope over despair. To our frontline heroes — you have embodied these very virtues, working tirelessly through seasons of strain to preserve life. Thank you for being the light in our health system's darkest hours.
To my committed Ministry staff — your behind-the-scenes dedication keeps our policies alive and our people safe. And to the general public — your cooperation and trust remain vital partners in our shared mission for a healthier tomorrow.
As we celebrate this season of resurrection, may we all find renewed strength, compassion, and unity. Let us continue to protect life, promote wellness, and uphold hope — today and always.
Wishing you a blessed, safe, and healthy Easter.
Dr Murtala Muhammad Bagana
Hon. Commissioner for Health
It was a privilege to welcome the @GlobalPolioEI delegation, led by Steven Lauwerier, to the Polio EOC in Minna. Their visit reinforces a shared truth: global health security begins at the local level.
We held focused technical discussions on strengthening immunization delivery, microplanning, supervision, vaccine logistics, and accountability, underscoring that excellence in execution is non-negotiable.
At Dr. Idris Kuta PHC (Minna) and Tutungo/Jedna PHC (Paikoro LGA), we engaged our frontline health workers, whose dedication continues to drive progress at the grassroots.
Since 2024, Niger State has recorded zero circulating vaccine-derived poliovirus, an outcome of sustained commitment and collective effort.
We remain vigilant and resolute in strengthening our systems to secure a healthier future for every child.
