HiPOD: The Spring Awakening of Martian Polar Dunes
This HiRISE image captures a site featuring a North Polar scarp and nearby dune field, showing the early to mid-stages of defrosting during northern spring.

Over 1.5 years, Ukraine 🇺🇦 has slowly but consistently implemented its obstacle-based fortification strategy and now has a solid and complex fallback line grid for most of the country.
Let's look at the results achieved and draw some conclusions, with bonus reviews from the soldiers!

As I said... This is not pure idiocy, useful or otherwise. This is intentional abuse of power and, in fact, falsifications, all in furtherance of the interests of a foreign adversary.
Before she departs, Gabbard uses her platform and access to intelligence to perpetuate one of her and Russia’s favorite conspiracy theories, disingenuously twisting facts, deliberately misinforming the public and delivering a gift to the Kremlin.
🔭 The Robin’s Egg Nebula:
A Star’s Beautiful Farewell Behold NGC 1360, one of the most striking planetary nebulae in the southern sky affectionately known as the Robin’s Egg Nebula.
1/ A while ago I did a small thread on BMP storage bases and which ones were likely to never be bothered with. I feel like it's worth doing the same with tanks. https://t.co/SburLv49bY
Some of our galaxy’s youngest, hottest, and most massive stars blaze to life in the nearby Carina Nebula. Winds from these powerful stars can carve out bubbles of hot gas, producing dramatic shapes in the surrounding clouds of colder gas and dust.✨
Reminder: all WW2 memorials in Russia bear only the years 1941–1945. The first two years of WW2 do not exist. The Soviets were busy attacking Poland, the Baltics and Finland and making friends with the Nazis when they divided Poland between them.
HiPOD: The Dunes in the Crater
We acquired this image to accomplish several science goals with this dune field within an impact crater: to monitor frost deposition, landscape evolution and sublimation of subsurface ice.

HiPOD: Slope Monitoring in Juventae Chasma
This observation includes what appear to be huge recurring slope lineae (RSL) features. They appeared right after a dust storm that occured between 2005 and 2007, but nevertheless they are huge and numerous.

HiRISE 10K: Ancient Layered Rocks in Nili Fossae
The layered rocks here are billions of years old, and may contain minerals such as clays and carbonate that likely formed when liquid water chemically altered these rocks.

A galactic hit-and-run!
The galaxy NGC 4485 shows signs of an interaction with a bypassing galaxy, but it didn't cause destruction. In fact, it triggered a whole new generation of stars to form!

HiPOD: Dunes with Fans
HiRISE is also a big fan of polar dunes! We acquired this image as a site for long term monitoring for any changes. On some of the ridges, frost is visible as well as dark spots caused by the process of sublimation.

HiPOD: A Light Outcrop in Aurorae Chaos
This observation shows a light, layered outcrop in Aurorae Chaos. The surrounding material is much darker than this outcrop. We can also look for variations between the layers.

HiPOD: Defrosting Dunes in Kaiser Crater
The dark sand dune at the center of this observation is covered in a blanket of white seasonal ice in the winter. In this Martian springtime image, the western slope of the dune is partly defrosted.

HiPOD: Lavas over Clay-Rich Terrain
To human eyes, the surface of Mars appears as various shades of red, but HiRISE is also sensitive to near-infrared light and can distinguish subtle differences in surface composition, especially in complex terrains.
