Little late to chip in for a post on #HindiDiwas, but certainly don't want to wait till next year. #Hindi has been my beloved language and i wrote few poems in my last trip to #Kumaon in #Uttarakhand. It is interesting to note that i wrote my first poem in #Kausani (1/3)

Proud to be hailing from the city of #Miraj - Has an extremely rich cultural heritage, known as 'Cultural Capital of Western Maharashtra'. And have seen these artisans working their hands on string instruments since childhood.

As I was researching to buy a tanpura, I learnt that the best tanpuras are made in Miraj, a city in Maharashtra.

It’s a fully handmade instrument, made by skilled artisans, taking a person over 10 days to make one piece.

Recent droughts in Europe once again made visible the "Hunger Stones" in some Czech and German rivers. These stones were used to mark desperately low river levels that would forecast famines. This one, in Elbe river, is from 1616 and says: "If you see me, cry"

Juan Fernandez Archipelago rings the bell for a name, Alexander Selkirk who spent 4 years alone on one of these islands and inspired Daniel Defoe to write #RobinsonCrusoe
I was fascinated by Selkirk's story at 8 when I read about it in a Marathi monthly for kids, Kishor (1989)
