I see Twitter has limited the responses to your reply. In any case, I agree that the challenge is keeping collaterals down to a minimum, and you’re doing that. But that takes technology, intel etc. things that the Lebanese - burdened by 40 years + of Syrian hegemony with international blessing - do not have. Peace is coming. The majority of Lebanese want it.
Israel has the strongest military in the region and perhaps the most efficient in the world. They have billions as military support from the US (thousands of times the GDP of Lebanon). And still it’s proving a monumental challenge for them to finish the mission. How do you expect us to have succeeded in disarming those who have held us hostage for the past 40 years (and supported by a regional theocratic superpower) ?
You should really grant the Lebanese the same leniency you have shown the Iranians. We both want peace, and we would have loved it to have a state that can overpower and subdue the theocratic thugs.
Read the community notes Damha. It is a dead militant who was firing from the roof. On the other hand, after the war was over, Hamas DID throw members of the palestinian authority from the rooftops and it is well documented.
Try to speak to more of us inhabitants of the land, as you correctly said, you can't get the truth from the media who is very biased.
Thanks man. As a Catholic yourself, you should know that our Catholic Maronite villages on the southern border were the only ones left intact because we chose not to engage in the war or harbor rocket-firing jihadis from hizbulla, despite their countless attempts. The left in the west doesn’t see that. It’s undeniable proof that 🇮🇱 wants peace. The Iranian proxies only want war for ideological reasons.
@DemhaMelas@EthanLevins2 First, you can’t take one small portion of the population and generalize over the entire country. Second, you know the number of settlements that 🇮🇱 has dismantled in contested lands after peace treaties were signed with Egypt and Jordan?
@Samsonoff9@DemhaMelas@EthanLevins2 Thanks. Rarely do we see truthful willingness to engage in discussion without cursing and death threats from the other camp. An innocuous post I made on my Facebook got me 600,000 views and 1200 death threats from my “compatriots”
@DemhaMelas@EthanLevins2 If you’re not familiar with them, you will ignore them and ignore the lived reality of my parents, myself, and a 3 million Lebanese just so that you don’t go through a painful process of changing your worldview?
@DemhaMelas@EthanLevins2 You know the Talmud is rabbinic discussions and not holy scripture like the Torah or Talmud?
And again, based on all what I know and have seen from the other sie - something you haven’t experienced- I’ll take my chances with the first camp
