Was muss noch alles passieren?

Our planet has just endured the hottest summer on record.
Climate breakdown has begun.
We can still avoid the worst of climate chaos. We don’t have a moment to lose.

In general, its "not too late." But it IS too late for some people, and some ecosystems. And corporate and political leaders are still actively, irreversibly destroying Earth. It's NEVER too late to fight, but don't be lulled by platitudes. It's appropriate to panic at this point
Scale down destructive and less necessary forms of production and reorganise capacity (labour, factories, resources etc) around what are obviously existentially important social and ecological objectives.
The ecological crisis cannot be solved by capitalism. Capital simply won’t mobilise the necessary production (public transit, renewable energy, insulation, regeneration, etc) because it is not profitable to do so. We need to mobilise public works directly or we’re in trouble.
Honestly, It is becoming harder to be a climate optimist. What the planet is going through right now is unreal.
Even the most careful and orthodox scientists I know appear on edge.
If you receive the news that dramatic spikes in ocean temperatures aren’t much of a concern, maybe even pleasant for swimming in, then it’s time to think again…

Most people STILL don’t know what peril they are in. This will be the coolest summer for the rest of your life, and that shouldn’t be just a meme - it should be actually terrifying. The ONLY path out of this heat nightmare is to end fossil fuels ASAP
134,386 commercial flights in one day makes it the busiest ever.
Plus 10,000 private jets.
Flying is frying the planet. We are becoming far too reliant on it, it’s artificially cheap, it’s unequal as fuck, they greenwash to absurdity, and we need to stop.
Say no to flying.
An extreme heat event currently ripping through Mexico has been described as "hands down the worst in the country's history." Children have been killed, athletes at the country's national games hospitalised and wild birds have died en masse as temperatures approach 50C (122F) 🧵
