JUST IN | The Hindu has learnt that given Japanese PM Takaichi’s domestic commitments, including an ongoing session of the Diet (Japanese Parliament), the window between her proposed arrival in India and her departure is quite tight. In view of this and the additional logistical issues connected to a visit outside the capital, the visit is now likely to be held in Delhi. The Guwahati part of the visit stands cancelled, @janusmyth reports.
PM of Japan, Sanae Takaichi is expected on her first official visit to India during 1-3 July 2026. Apart from Delhi, Guwahati was also considered as a possible venue for the visit and was offered to the Japanese side. Given PM Takaichi’s domestic commitments, the window between her proposed arrival in India and her departure is quite tight. In view of this and the additional logistical issues connected to a visit outside the capital, the visit is likely to be held in Delhi.
