Inmates arrive back at Connemara Open Prison after a 14 day Christmas home leave awarded by the ZPCS Commissioner General M.C.N Chihobvu. Thirty nine inmates were released on 20 Dec 2020 and returned on 2 Jan 2021 after spending the entire festive season at their homes.

#PostCabinetMediaBriefing Cabinet approved the proposal to have a General Amnesty for prisoners. Cabinet noted that the country's prison population currently stands at 22 000 against an official holding capacity of 17 000. The Amnesty will decongest the country's prisons.
