Today, on Long Covid Awareness Day, I want to amplify a crucial message: The world must not turn its back on people with Long Covid.

Long Covid is a significant global challenge that must decisively addressed.

Long Covid transcends borders; it impacts the lives of hundreds of millions around the world and impacts national economies.

Addressing Long Covid requires a coordinated and comprehensive response strategy.

I urge governments worldwide to:

1. Prioritize and fund trials to identify effective Long Covid treatments.

2. Commit to sustained funding for Long Covid research.

3. Train healthcare providers to recognize and effectively manage Long Covid.

4. Launch public education campaigns to raise awareness about Long Covid.

5. Fund services and support systems for those affected by Long Covid and their caregivers.

6. Invest in prevention including clean air technologies, variant-proof vaccines, and vaccines that block infection and transmission.

The world has the means and the obligation to address Long Covid.

Inaction is not an option. Failure is not an option. Now is the time to act!
