What I see from the latest polls is:
Children reject the scanning of their private communications just as strongly as adults, as per the Commission's own impact assessment (p134 https://t.co/UbmykVCpKn)
#chatcontrol#CSAR#StopScanningMe
Will @YlvaJohansson listen?
Survey: 66% of children do NOT want to be „protected“ by error-prone mass scanning and reporting of private conversations and photos, as proposed by the EU’s #ChatControl#CSAR plans. 80% feel disturbed by it!

Spotlight @RenewEurope!
Will @IoanDragosT stay true to his words and ensure that the AI Act?
Renew MEPs (@svenja_hahn@karmel80 @SophieintVeld +) must call on their rapporteur to stop the creation of the surveillance society @EUCouncil wants.
@RenewEurope, we are watching you.
The internet is mired in a vicious polycrisis: child safety, surveillance, discrimination, disinformation, polarization, monopoly, journalism collapse - not only have we failed to agree on what to do about these, there's not even a consensus that all of these *are* problems.

The Digital Services Act is a transparency machine. Platforms have to submit every 6 months a report describing their content moderation activities in the EU. The first reports are in and there’s a wealth of information in there. Thread
Now It's official: The European Parliament wants to stop #ChatControl and defend secure #encryption! 💪 No objections to the almost unanimously adopted LIBE position within the deadline. ✨ #Milestone
Now that the EP has its official position on #chatcontrol, we wait for Council's.
Countries with (forthcoming) new governments are Luxembourg, Spain, Slovakia, Poland, and soon Netherlands. Their Ministers may not know/have a position yet, so contact them!
#Chatcontrol: EU Parliament has limited the scope and scrapped large scale client side scanning.
Let's hope that this protections of citizen's privacy against mass surveillance survive the upcoming trilogue.
After the #EU Parliament committed earlier this year to banning biometric mass surveillance, recent developments on the #AIAct may be putting this in jeopardy.
Thanks euronews for the chance to explain why that would be such a disaster for human rights! https://t.co/cTVx5NxlqN
@adamheimlich@WolfieChristl@Ryanbarwick you read a whole thread about how RTB is being used for intelligence and profiling, and your first response is to criticising the narrative for (allegedly) being ultimately beneficial to Google/FB?🫣
The thread also argues against their methods; plus, Wolfie is against RTB per se
As part of our new report on RTB as a security threat and previously unreported, we reveal 'Patternz', a private mass surveillance system that harvests digital advertising data on behalf of 'national security agencies'.
5 billion user profiles, data from 87 adtech firms. Thread:
@SpearofRoute4@tweets_nika@HAX The logic is: If unworkable, then age verification cannot be done.
The (legitimate) safeguards are so demanding that the requirement cannot be applied. Not middleway on your rights.
Note: this EP text will not be applied as such. First, we need a compromise with Council's mandate
@tweets_nika@HAX@echo_pbreyer agreed :)
All the compromises voted today are available here https://t.co/IIYiJMfnTo Some are still missing, but I enquired and it should soon be fixed.
You're looking for art. 4(3a) for the requirements on age verification
