🏛️ Masterclass in Diplomacy: Egypt & Eritrea Secure the Ultimate Strategic Advantage
The geopolitical chessboard of the Horn of Africa and the Red Sea is being rewritten, and the verdict is clear: consistency and relationship-building win the long game. While Cairo and Asmara solidify deep, unwavering alliances with the world's most decisive leaders, Addis Ababa’s erratic maneuvers are leaving it increasingly isolated. 🇪🇬 🇪🇷
♟️ The Strategic Alignment
Diplomacy is not an ad-hoc scramble; it is a calculated, persistent pursuit of mutual interest.
🔴 The Washington Connection: Egypt has secured an extraordinarily robust alignment with U.S. President Donald Trump, anchoring its regional national security interests—including Nile water security—at the highest levels of global power. 🇺🇸 🇪🇬
🔴 The Axis of Stability: By masterfully nurturing long-term relations with regional heavyweights like Saudi Arabia and Egypt, Eritrea has effectively deployed its diplomatic capital where it yields maximum impact. 🇸🇦 🇪🇷
🔴 The Chaos of the "PP": In stark contrast, PM Abiy Ahmed and his Prosperity Party (PP) continue to drift from one erratic maneuver to another, lacking a coherent grand strategy or stable international backing. 📉
🔴 The Final Word: The formidable coalition of Cairo, Riyadh, Asmara, and Washington leaves no room for unilateral maritime or regional overreach by Addis Ababa.
🛑💡 The Hard Lesson for Addis Ababa
While the regime in Ethiopia continues its reactive rhetoric, a timeless truth remains evident on the global stage:
"Diplomacy is the art of letting someone else have your way." — David Frost(Or closer to home: He who builds bridges commands the crossing, while he who burns them stands isolated.)
The Cairo-Asmara alliance, backed by global heavyweights, is securing the future of the Red Sea while the PP is left out in the cold. It's time for Addis Ababa to stop whining and start learning how real diplomacy works. 🕊️⚡

#Eritrea: Ministry of Foreign Affairs commemorated, in conjunction with the Africa Group (i.e. African Ambassadors accredited to Eritrea), Africa Day at Asmara Palace yesterday under the theme: "Africa: one heart, one land , one destiny".
Keynote Addresses by FM Osman Saleh and South Africa's Ambassador Mr. Perseverance Mbuzeli Kumsha.
Yesterday's event was preceded by various joint activities earlier in the week including panel discussion on "African Unity in the Changing Global Order", and, a football match between FM staff and a selected team from the African Embassies in Eritrea.
FM Osman underlined, among other matters:
*"...This year’s theme of the African Union is: 'Assuring sustainable water availability and safe sanitation systems to achieve the goals of Agenda 2063'. This theme is not only timely—it is foundational".
*"...It is essential to recognize that Africa is a rich continent endowed with precious natural resources; resources that can drive inclusive growth and sustainable development, provided that we manage them with integrity, discipline, and shared long-term vision".
*"...Africans are united in spirit. And now, more than ever, we must also be united in action - united in changing global realities and shaping a fairer world. Africa should earn its rightful place in the global arena, not through division, but through solidarity. We will no longer accept being left behind in international decisions. It is through unity that Africa can prosper politically and economically in this changing world order.... In conclusion, I wish to reaffirm our commitment to the ideals of African unity, and to the shared mission of ensuring that every African - woman, man, child - can enjoy clean water, safe sanitation, and the dignity that comes with it".
Ambassador Kumsha, for his part, underlined:
"Africa Day is more than commemoration; it is a reaffirmation of our collective journey, that we are bound by a common destiny. This is a golden opportunity for us to conduct a continental introspection...we need smart partnership".

Profile Q & A - Vision for Berhan Ayny: Dr. Mengis Bairu on Eritrea’s Path to Medical Self-Reliance; by Sabrina Solomon
*"...Long before we ever open a textbook, we as Eritreans learn from the actions of our elders. I watched how deeply my parents cared for their neighbors and our community. That upbringing instilled in me a lifelong desire to serve my fellow citizens rather than focus narrowly on personal gain".
*"...This concept of self-reliance is deeply woven into the historical fabric of Eritrea; sustainability is nothing new for us. I was fortunate to visit most of the liberated areas back in 1986, with a particular focus on the Sahil Orotta hospital. Seeing those fully functional underground hospitals was incredible. Even the origins of the Azel Pharmaceutical Company were in Sahil, manufacturing the majority of their own medications and IV infusions under the most challenging conditions. That principle of self-reliance was forged during the liberation struggle and naturally transitioned into today’s ministries and government frameworks".
*"...Our job through the Cure Blindness Project is to ensure these doctors receive world-class training and have access to premium medical products, allowing us to advance at the exact same speed as global technology".
*"...We are on a definitive, highly coordinated path to establish the Berhan Ayny Ophthalmic Hospital as a premier regional Center of Excellence; fully equipped with state-of-the-art modern technology and fully staffed by top-tier, homegrown specialists".
