Rafa Nadal loses to Novak Djokovic in likely their final meeting.

This was also likely the last Olympics match of his career.

It’s difficult to put into words everything this man means to tennis.

Every time he’s stepped on the court since he was a teenager, he’s reminded all of us that it’s always worth it to try a little harder.

It’s always worth it to give your best effort.

He did that once again today.

When he won his first Roland Garros title on this very court in 2005, who would’ve thought that 19 year old boy rolling around in the dirt would mean so much to millions of people.

22 Grand Slams, 14 Roland Garros titles, & 2 Olympic Gold Medals later… what a journey it’s been.

This wasn’t the final match of his career.

But in likely his last Olympics singles match, it’s the end of another chapter.

And it’s been one beautiful book, written by a legendary author.

With him til the very end.
