@Maria4Dist6@NYCCFB@NYSCOELIG Thank you, Maria. I will indeed vote no. Unfortunately, the proposals are worded so as to sound perfectly reasonable, and I suspect most people will vote yes (as I was originally going to do).
@historyinmemes The notion of honoring poor Henrietta Lacks, as if she herself did something brilliant or brave, is truly pathetic. There's clearly a desperate need for black heroes and heroines, even invented ones.
@BostonAreaGuy@elonmusk@mayemusk Damn right! I can't get that episode of some Morgan Freeman nature series out of my mind -- the global hit we took from that asteroid strike 66 million years ago, that killed off the dinosaurs. Unlikely, yes, but very scary.
@the_culturist_ And -- appropriately -- Grimshaw has been featured, of course, on many, many book covers: Turn of the Screw, Dracula, Sherlock Holmes, Moonstone, Jekyll and Hyde, etc. etc.
@jjcharlesworth_ I hope it really IS a celebration, and not the condescending treatment (it's "dated," etc.) that the book has often received in recent years.
@wajacobson@megynkelly You definitely have Halperin's number. Must admit that, last year, I found his praise and apparent admiration for Zohran Mamdani's "energy" and "exciting political skills," blah blah blah, pretty damned nauseating.
@bethanyshondark The Sundowners(1960):"You've got your whole life to live. We're halfway through ours, yr Dad and me.There are other people waiting for you but there's no one waitin' for us except each other.Don't ever ask me to choose between you and your Dad,because I'll choose him every time."
